Software Update

Anyone know the final/latest integration software version that can be loaded into a pre-LCI M3 ?
Or can that version take the latest load?
cheers

Pretty sure any car can take the latest, I had mine done 2 months ago with what I presume is the last iStep build:

Update:
the car took the 2021 iStep load with no probs.

Yet to test the effects, but EDC on comfort sure is more comfortable.

That was my take, steering was better, diff punches straighter, dampers are better resolved (even in sport plus) and gearbox was smoother and traction control seemed more developed.

If you're not familiar with esys don't attempt yourself.

If not done right you can brick your car and you will require at least a 40A+/13v power source plugged in (not your typical 5A trickle charger).

The car draws up a lot of current while being flashed.

It's fraught with danger if you're not familiar.

My advice would be to ask for the dealer or independent specialist to do it next time you're having an oil change or similar. It can be done in parallel and works out much cheaper because you're not blocking a bay just for flashing the iStep update.

Would this impact any loaded tune?

I'm mainly after the full screen apple car play functionality and improvements in diff/EDC

Yes, it overwrites all the software in the car for all modules so any tunes or coding you've done go back to stock. I got the iStep done then got the iDrive 6 update and CarPlay coding from Easy Bimmer Coding and reapplied my BimmerCode coding myself following that.
