FCPEuro selling recalled products!?

Hey all, My shop that I trust told me recently that FCPEuro gets all their inventory from recalled products which is why they are able to have that crazy warranty deal. He said he heard it directly from one of the major brands they sell while at a big vendor event. Has anyone heard this to confirm? I want to buy brakes/rotors but kinda scary to trust the car to stop with recalled brakes/rotors lol.

Thats a lie and doesnt make sense at all. They offer so many different products. How can they all be recalled? I also think its illegal to sell recalled items. Manufacturer is suppose to accept the recalled items back and dispose of it otherwise the manufacturer is liable for any incidents incurred from said recalled item...

Also, the build dates stamped on parts are recent. They are not old stock from 5 years ago...

While FCPEuro's policies are quite unusual, I'm 99% sure they aren't doing anything nefarious. All the things I've gotten from them have been perfect.

They aren't the cheapest around. Pricing is good but there is a small premium to cover that warranty they sell. They can also always stop selling common items that fail so that they can avoid having to honor that warranty.

There's nothing nefarious behind them being able to offer that warranty. They make more money with the extra customers it gets them than it costs in honoring the warranty. I've used the warranty once but the fact that it's there is why I buy damn near everything from them even though Pelican Parts gets orders to me for the same price or lower way faster since they're much more local to me.

Funniest bull crap I've ever heard

Find a new shop. Obviously business scam to make you order parts from them and over charge you.

2019 BMW M4  [9.63]
I just ordered brake pads from them and my rear pads were like used. The box was crushed and taped closed, my instructions were hella dirty and dusty and the bag housing the brake sensor was so black and dusty. The pads itself were unwrapped and I am 99% sure they aren't used since there's no evidence of brake grease or marking on the wear pads but I am 100% sure I got an open box item that I paid full price for.

Luckily they expedited shipping of a new set of pads.

going to need more evidence than heard from someone that heard it from someone else...

have ordered parts including brake pads from FCP, no concerns whatsoever. they're able to have the business model because I suspect very few people take advantage of the policy. I've told myself I'm going to do it, but I keep buying their oil change kits and havent returned used oil once because... well lazy.

Ha! I've done it because oil changes cost me $14

Speaking of, I'm just around the 5k mark, time to order some oil tonight...

Brake pads I've ordered direct from BMW, Volvo and SAAB (when they existed) always showed up like this. Most boxes were intact but brake pads are heavy and depending on who packages the parts they will literally sometimes fly out of the box.

Brake pads always beat up their boxes. They're heavy.

If you look on FCP's website and READ they say their business model includes a tiny markup that covers the "insurance" for lifetime warranty.

I've bought TONS of stuff from FCP. Never a problem. All parts received were new and authentic.

My racing oil is like $170, and I'm on my fifth "free" change using their warranty. Fourth set of plugs, two sets of wipers, diff and trans oils, etc…

I've even had my BMW dealership slam FCP with similar comments after I showed them screen shots of Genuine stuff that I get for $$ less. 4 BMW's over 10 years and zero issues.
And yes, recent brake and rotors from FCP looked beat up only because they are heavy as hell.

This is BS I come from working at a OES Tier1 parts manufacturer who produces goods for BMW and other companies. This is a big no no in the industry and part manufacturers are actively preventing this in the field.

If FCP sold "recalled" goods the blame goes back to the MFG. Manufacturers dispose of recalled, defective or flawed goods on site. If its cost effective they are sent back to the manufacturing plant for recycling or disposal.

The only thing that makes sense is if the items were supposed to be scrap in field. Sometimes a part manufacturer would advise the distributor like FCP to scrap in field because the cost to ship the item back to the production plant costs more than the actual item. If that distributor does not physically destroy the product and chooses to sell them any way then thats poor business practice on their part.

It's possible but stating that FCP is selling nothing but distressed goods sounds more like the repair shop trying to sell you parts he sources from his local distributor.

Repair shops makes their money on parts & labor plus shop supplies so it makes sense. Everyone has to eat you know...

I'd rather not bring them into it since I have been very happy using them since I started going there and I don't feel like bringing negativity. I actually found them through many of the members on this forum that recommended them. When he told me this, the conversation did not turn into a sales pitch about how I should start using his products. In fact, on that same day he referred me to a direct competitor for work that I needed done on my car that he could've done but admitted that it wasn't an area that he felt comfortable with. If he was looking to get money out of me he could've easily taken the job. Of course that doesn't guarantee that he wasn't lying or mistaken about the information but my history with them has always been good.

I'm happy to see all the feedback though because it's definitely giving me (and prob many others) much more confidence in FCP Euro so I appreciate you guys for that
