I recently re-upped to a 2018 ZCP F82 after the lease on my 2015 F82 expired. I loved my previous M4 but was blown away by the ZCP when I drove one for the day in Munich last summer. I think the ZCP finally got right what was lacking in the regular M3/4. So, I'll probably keep my ZCP for at least 3-4 years until the G series comes out (or, go to the M2 Comp).

M2 Comp is not that great. It would be a big downgrade from M4.

I ended up ordering another M4

I plan to keep this longer than any other vehicle I have owned, so at least 4
Years and I am one year into it. I could see me keeping this for 6-10 years and then passing it to a friend as I get a 911.

Had my M5 (E39) for 16 years before it started to rust too much (Northeast daily driver) and intend to drive my M3 until it starts falling apart!

Yeah, you're probably right about the M2 Comp. I considered a bunch of other cars as well: Audi RS5, RS3, Alfa Giulia Quad, Porsche 997, Macan GTS and after weighing all the options came back to ///M. Looking forward to the G series but in the meantime, I plan to thoroughly enjoy my ZCP!

3 to 5 years. This is probably not a long-term car for me.

Down to something like 15% left to pay off on mine now. Will have it done within a year I think then time to stock the piggy bank up for something with (4/6) more cylinders. The m3 will stay even then, unless I get a great trade offer on it towards a g80.

Still would love to get ahold of a clean e90 as a second toy, which if found would push off my 10/12 cyl goal; but again will likely be holding onto the f80 at least another 5-6 years.

Cool A Long Time in a Galaxy Nearby

I have typically kept mechanical wonders for long durations. For example My 1995 Honda ST1100, I have had for 23 years. My 2005 Honda CBR1000RR I have had for 13 years. I have had my 2016 F80 for 2.5 years and it currently has 18k miles on it, that have been divine to do.

I suspect I will own my M3 for a very long time, provided I D.F.I.U..

Yes! This and also this. Plus I don't even drive that often, so the miles are low. Will be 3 years of ownership in Sept, and I've barely cracked 14k. I really love this car - it's literally my dream car and I configured it to order so I plan to keep it for a while.

The only reason I don't drive as much is because my commute is so short I prefer a bicycle most days... rather than leaving the M3 out in the office parking lot in the Texas sun all day just to drive it for 15 minutes each way.

I absolutely love it for weekends, road trips, and grocery-getting. No need to replace it any time soon!

Until the end of the lease in 2021. Wanted a 997.2 this time around, but we're due with our second kid any day now, and my son is 4. By 2021, he'll be out of a car seat, and the baby will be 3 and in a front-facing car seat. Woo hoo!
