It seems like just about everything they're doing on this car is to increase its cosmetic and street appeal. Even though I (and literally everyone I know lol) think they failed cosmetically, it's clear that they believe they succeeded... or at the very least they're trying to speak the G8X's beauty & relevance into existence

I'm sure if "Klaus" wants a job at Audi he would be welcomed bc that's the kind of crap I would expect from Audi haha
edit - I also think Biermann saw this coming and he was like, nope! BMW as a company has compromised its core values and are literally trying to re-write their history over. Its like someone from a competing manufacture has infiltrated the company and is trying to destroy it from within. I think its the Audi guys! Last edited by MFNATIK; 01-12-2021 at 12:00 PM.. |

No one asked for more power.
They should have kept power increase to a minimum and put much more effort in weight reduction and chassis integration. AWD also has no place in motorsport inspired M3.

Watching this just now, it strangely reminded me of how General Motors' marketing department handled the credit crunch and spiking fuel prices in 2007-2008. Robert said he felt bad for how Klaus was being put in front of the camera, so that now the ugly car had an association with a real person - possibly someone who would be its scapegoat.
When oil prices climbed to nearly $150 per barrel, GM was still producing ads laden with cognitive dissonance, stating things like, "The 2008 Chevy Trailblazer has 300 fuel-efficient horses." However, at the bottom of the ad in small print, you could see it was rated for an EPA-estimated 15 MPG. The company went one step further and put the faces of its marketing department in the ads, standing next to the comically inappropriate vehicles they were trying to cram down Americans' throats. One example included the largest SUV they made, and a woman no taller than 5'-2" who couldn't even see over the hood. Despite all of the evidence to the contrary, GM was unwilling to do an about-face on its marketing and product lineup. With the long lead times to develop and produce tooling to make cars, they couldn't be expected to turn on a dime, either. BMW is in the same boat, although their situation is less dire because the majority of the complaints focus on cosmetics. Yeah, we're unhappy about the weight increases, but if they'd just give us a car that doesn't make us every time we look at it, maybe we can learn to live with the other stuff. So what's it going to take? How many complaints do they have to receive before they turn this around? Also, how does this compare to how Lexus, Audi, Merc, and VW handled their large grille introductions? Were their enthusiasts similarly turned off? If BMW pressed on with the current design theme and we see a design reversal of sorts in the LCI, then it will be an admission that the new design doesn't sell. For now, we can only vote with our wallets, because social media comments don't seem to be doing the trick. |

Somehow missed the E65 v. iX video. Just watched it.
The fuck was that? Who is this marketing company they've hired? Awful stuff. Shitting on their history like I haven't seen any car company do.

Ok, so WOW. Another FAIL for BMW marketing. They got to be following the the design dept in trying to destroy the brand as we've known it.
How can anyone watch this video and leave thinking, I want an iX? They literally insulted their loyal base and called us all old timers, refusing to "move forward". Moving ahead isn't the issue. Making ugly cars with beaver tooth grilles that are disproportionate to the overall design of the car is. And outside of the grilles, the side and rear profiles just suck. Frank Stephenson summed it up best. Looks like an appliance on wheels, not a car in motion. Someone needs to fire the marketing team ASAP! Along with the exterior designers. Please have the door hit them on their way out. |

If that is the case, it explains the exhaust tips pointing downward. But it is no excuse for the fake tips. I guess they wanteed to keep the "S" quad tip heritage look, but it is compketely lame nonetheless.

Did they also imply their old cars are unreliable? And what's with the bullshit stuff?? With Tesla everyone wanted a Tesla. They looked ahead of their time. With this pos, they're lucky if 10% of people like their design.
