F80 Spool on Straight pipes is weak?
Is anybody else disappointed in the spool with the f80 platform. Every other straight piped turbo/twin turbo car I have owned has produced an extremely loud spool out the exhaust. I am on Stage 2, catless downpipes, catless and resonator free mid pipe, plus open air intake.
Thoughts?

You are referring to the spool sound?

If you're hung up on the fact that you can't hear turbo spool on these amazing examples of modern engineering, you're going to be livid when you find out that the exhaust burbles aren't actually real.

The turbos are so small and don't generate much of a spool sound. Upgrade the turbos and she'll spool plenty.

I have ER sport-cats and an AA Single exhaust, so there's tons of gate blowoff (braaatttt) when I pedal-up under load.
After adding the MST open-type intake the turbo spool (whizzz) became very pronounced from about 2-4K under load. When cruising easy and pedal-up a nice warble-whiz sound comes out from under hood. With my stock boxes and BMC filters the sound was half the volume of open intakes, and only from 2.5-3.5K under load. There is no spool sound coming off pedal like the opens make. I'm tuning with Paul so lowest IAT is needed, which is why I put the stock boxes back (about 10F cooler).

Remove your camber plate rubber covers. They actually mask a lot of the sound coming from your engine bay area.
I confirmed with several people that removing these does make your intake way louder. At certain gears it sounds like a BOV lol. |

No issues with the design or engineering here. I just enjoy the sound of performance vehicles. This is why I haven't moved to an electric or hybrid platform. I'm sort of confused by your comment about it being an amazing example of modern engineering, but then hate on fake bubbles (I'm not a huge fan either tbh, I turn them off pretty often). The F80 is a pretty awesome platform, for everything except sound IMO.

They are small, but the turbos on my 135i back in the day had a tremendous spool up sound once I went COBB Stage 2+ and those are the smallest turbos I've ever seen.
