Apparently deebeemerman is going by RacerWells now he gave me mrenee636@gmail.com as his email. He’s trying to sell me a n52 performance exhaust. Shipped for $950 He seems pretty straight up. He’s willing to write up a bill of sale, do PayPal. Glad I looked him up lol. He might end up seeing this but I kinda want to see how far he will go.

Googled his email, looks like a popular guy amongst the scam community. He scammed people on the watch forums as well.

Needs to be made public, there's a very determined scammer that is commenting on threads and private messaging folks on numerous accounts now requesting that they text them at the phone number 6503523424. This is a scammer, and whichever account they make next needs to be reported as well. Previous known accounts are "Mark Shockney" and "Joe22$", both of which have already been banned pretty quickly after reporting (thank you mods).

Just general advice to be weary of any account that reaches out unsolicited and asks for you to contact them on communication outside of the forums. A lot of times they also try to copy the post title that you may have commented on in order to pose as the poster you're intending to talk with. Be vigilant and ensure the user messaging you is the user you're expecting to hear from.

Have had many encounters with potential scammers as well. If the person in this conversation was legit my apologies in advance but take a look for yourselves and see if it's believable or not. A couple things i recommend is if you're attempting to buy never post your number on the thread, always PM. Ask for additional pictures that aren't already posted of what you're purchasing to confirm it's legit.

and a seller. Typically tried to take it to text message. Didn’t think I’d notice the wrong state and that he wasn’t the poster. The scammer’s number is: This is the message that was sent:

so what IS the best method to not get scammed here? I'm in the process of trying to purchase winter wheels/tires. Paypal goods and services + bill of sale + pictures of the item with the forum members name/date/website name?

Check the sellers reputation score.

See if they've sold other stuff without drama.
(Or ask them to text you a pic of the goods with a slip of paper in the shot with sellers name and date.)

Use regular PayPal goods and services, with a credit card that protects you.

Have it sent to your address on file with PayPal.

Get a tracking number.

Keep pix of the text or email thread, in case.

All great advice. The "provide a picture of your item with your forum name and date" is a requirement on some other forums to sell stuff... here's a picture of a $100 part I'm selling on Honda-Tech.com:
