What to do with OEM Exhaust?
For those of you that have replaced your OEM exhaust system, what did you do with the OEM one?
I now have the OEM exhaust for my '10 135i and the one for the M4 sitting in my basement collecting dust. |

You could try to sell it but probably won't get much for it. The best suggestion to get the most bang for your buck is to swap it back out before you get rid of your car and sell the performance one then. You usually don't get anything extra for having a performance exhaust when trading a car in.

IMO I would keep it if you can here are my reasons.
1. The OEM exhaust is not worth anything on the used market based on past M models. I use to get 150$ for my OEM exhaust's. 2. When it comes time to get rid of your car you can slap the OEM exhaust back on and sell the aftermarket or MPE exhaust. Thats just my 2 cents

CF tips were back ordered and I didn't want to wait. Plus I was perfectly happy with the titanium tips. I also want to get the diffuser, but I think I want to put my money towards a day or two of the M performance school in the spring.

I have a question for you guys... HOW did you transport that one piece exhaust after the install of a new one or did most of you just get a rear section?
I'll probably have to chop it at the muffler section where they would do it for an MPE install to store it. |

This was the issue for me. I was told it won't fit in the F80 (even with the seats down?), so I would need to stop by with a bigger car to pick it up. I told them to hold onto it for a few days while I decide whether its worth it (considering I need to free up space at the house, not add more items in storage).

Ahh. Mine is a lease ... So I will probably hack the stock exhaust where the MPE would go to save room in storage. I'll probably borrow a friends truck to move the exhaust parts.

I will install my self so won't have to transport, but will absolutely keep it to swap back. Can plan to get at least half back on the sale of the optional exhaust when done with it. Vs zero if left on the car at the time of its sale.

I still have my E90 M3 exhaust stored under the house. It only had 350 miles on it, but I would be lucky to get $150 for it, so it will stay there until I move.

Putting the OEM back on when you sell would be good, but a problem if the stock pipes have been cut for rear section installation. I offered my E92 one for free, but ended up scrapping it when I got no responses. Quite a few were doing the mod on the stock E9X units, though.
