Quick question on tires

I just recently bought a 2015 f82 m4 with the CCB so they’re 19’s stock wheels.

I am already thinking of replacing the tires it came with.

I ran PS4S On my 911, and I loved them. However, I noticed this car is VERY tail happy and was wondering what y’all’s experience was on running slightly wider tires front and rear than stock?

You'll get lots of different feedback on this question, but this car was designed for Michelin Pilot Super Sports. The successor to these is the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, which has all the characteristics of the PSS but with improvement in wet traction. When I replaced the PSSs on my 2016 M, I went with the PS4S. Same for my wife's 2018 M3. You can't go wrong with these.

started with PSS 255/19 & 275/19, changed to 763m with 265/19 & 285/20 PS4S and the car is better in all respects. still all waggy from a standing start but i don't care about drag racing so doesn't matter to me.

I went from MPSS to MPS4s in stock size and I kinda regret not upsizing a little bit. On my next set I would do 265/35R19 and 285/35/R19 in MPS4s. Even though Michelin creates good tires, I still have trouble with traction. I still spin the tires in second gear while moving LOL. This is the only thing that deters me from driving the car too aggressively.

Also upsizing will give it more sidewall to help with the comfort.

If more traction is a concern, consider RE-71R’s with the bigger sizing of 265/285. That will get you moving in the right direction. Wet traction, obviously, won’t be as good as the PSS or 4s, especially with standing water, but if that’s not a concern I definitely recommend them.

Perhaps I can throw in a question here as I'm going to get some new tires, looking at PS4S as well and I see a lot of people using different sizes on the 666M and I was wondering if I can up them with bigger than stock tires size to get better fitment without spacers which stock setup tires need, or if it's simply better to run the same setup with the PS4S in same size as OEM PSS?

OEM PSS is like BMW Star Spec so it’s going to be different from generic PS4S. I think some people run 275/295 instead of the 265/285.

I’m not sure how you’re going to get better fitment without lowering or running spacers. Without spacers, stock wheels will have a slight sunken look. Without lowering, the wheel gap is not going shrink by much. If you raise the diameter of the wheel too much by making the tire sidewall taller, it will throw off your speedometer. There is also a ratio between the front and rear tires so it doesn’t upset the DSC and cut power/interrupt your driving.

I had the OEM measured out with the MP-HAS at BMW spec for the 20's and was told 20mm would flush it as that's what they've used in the past as well with great results.

Reason I'm wondering about the PS4S is if the 20mm spacers will make it rub somewhere as they are slightly taller than the same size PSS I believe, 0.5" or something and if people using PS4S have a flushed setup with/without spacers before I go and buy a full set of new tires

What is the ratio between the tires to avoid power cut?
