Going to be following Spool Twice's build and replace secondary cats with Magnaflow #14156. Will post sound clips soon just waiting on appointment time and time off work. Interested to see how it sounds, as I have a stock muffler as well (non-zcp/cs).

I think the stock muffler will sound the best, I will try to get mine done later this week or early next week, but mine likely wont' happen until after the new year. Can't wait to hear your sound clips, especially on a normal muffler!

I personally think it will sound better than the CS-tipped OE cans. Larger inner diameter tips that are single walled typically deepen sounds. The actual tips of the regular cans are smaller in diameter, but have an outer cover (or "exhaust finisher" in chrome or black on the ZCP) tend to accentuate higher frequencies, exactly what is needed to highlight an equal-length design.

Here is another pic from a member that better shows what I did. He didn't have his painted black so visually its easier to see what was done. He uses an H-pipe though, where I used a Flowmaster "x-pipe" crossover:

I like how they angled his H-pipe design, it gives a better opportunity to merge sound waves. However if you do use an H-pipe, my recommendation would be to place it closer to the differential, because the pipes are closer together, which will maximize merging sound waves even more.

Any clips from this setup?

Been following this thread and finally sub'd.

To the OP congrats on your advancements in S55 exhaust tone. I think this sounds great.

Now I'm inspired to try this method with my MPE. Don't want to hack up my current MPE pipe so I'll have to source another for the R&D.

If anyone has an equal length (EQ) + MPE I would love to hear it.

What's going on behind the secondary cats, that's a strange bit of pipe routing.

Not the u bend section, the pipes behind the 2nd cats have been made into an x pipe by ovaling the pipes from what I can see. Be interesting to hear it in action.

The bends in those pictures aren't any different than post #1, the U-bend is discussed in post #1,and the pipes merge after the rear diff after removing the center resonator/crossover section.

I think he is referring to the section immediately after the secondary cats that eliminates the stock resonator and it’s an optical illusion b/c of the angle it does appear to merge but I’m pretty sure it just drops down a bit and both sides are still separate but I could wrong...awesome work btw op

Just read every post in this thread and subscribed. Probably the best thread in the F8X forum IMO. Awesome work OP.

It's pretty perplexing thinking about why aftermarket exhaust manufacturers haven't all ready thought about EQ designs. Especially considering the cost of some of the top tier makes. This thread should end up being pretty legendary

In the mean time, I recorded a few standing revs. After a couple hundred miles, my exhaust is breaking in really nicely.

I forget to make also a video with straight pipe and also with stock resonator delete, but with this mode the car sound and drone like a shit so i installed custom resonators, 2 mounts ago i drived an m4 with single mid pipe and i can say my last mode with resonators sound more deep and it have a little v sound now. I love it. No more drone, description of current mod in yt description

Sounds so nice! Probably captures the equal-length sound the best here, smooth and mellow at the same time, yet racy as well. Exactly how the S55 can sound like with a little innovation.

Here is how an equal-length exhaust should sound like revving with a stock muffler just as a comparison:

The sound from an EQ exhaust is so much fuller and wider in range, gets rid of the tinny and thin sounds the S55 normally has.
