Doesn't look good, backend is beyond busy and doesn't need to be with the gorgeous car.

What is it with the spoiler supports going on TOP of the plank these days? I've never got the look, just looks dumb to me hah.

More people are willing to put up with a good-looking sports car that drives awful than vice versa.

Look, the 2er already looks better than the 4er, in my very humble opinion, and with M4 underpinnings, the M2 will be at the very least as good as the M4 to drive. Interior's gonna be more or less the same, no? Stupid screens & all.

Most likely, no doubt. My plan had been to keep the F82 and then wait and see what the new M2 was all about, but that plan went out the window. I think the M2 might be a bit too small for my needs anyway, but it's nice to see it appears they're not bringing over the massive nostrils for the little car. They'd look even more of out place on the 2 lol!!

In think this will be my first real mod for the car. I liked the V2 in my F82 before I went with the Nexon wheel, and this is actually fairly priced!

NickyC Glad you're settling into the new car and finding things to like!

I signed up for a track day which is coming up soon but track pads are gone and my blue OEMs are at around 60% with delivery being too far out to get new ones in time, poor planning on my part as my vacation was pushed 4 week prior to what I was planning and like 90% are on summer vacation everywhere so deliveries are too slow.

Curious how the remaining steel ones will hold up for a couple days with maybe 2x20-3x20min each day or something. Guess I'll call it quit when I get the yellow warning light for the pads

Not doing time attacks or beating any records, just for some fun times.

The underside of the wing is what generates the downforce. The traditional wing supports cause turbulence where they attach to the bottom of the wing, hence attaching it to the top with a ‘swan’ fixture so that the downforce is generated more ‘cleanly’.

Pretty ingenious actually, i wonder why racing teams didn’t adopt this earlier and more widely…

NickyC have you thought about doing a spray dip? It’s like $2500 and from pics it looks just like paint.

Relative new track, got a cool layout at 2.3km

I'll have to call BMW on Monday and see if they can express delivery me a pair of pads... Probably gonna cost a fortune but I'm afraid the OEM won't hold at 60% but I've not used the OEM for tracking so I really have no clue about their wear.

Track looks awesome! Where is that?

The problem I found with OEM pads is that they can't stand the heat and a 20-minute session was borderline for even intermediate-level driver (not helped if MDM is secretly applying brakes for you). More advanced drivers could probably manage the brakes better than me.

In my experience, you need to be extra careful with cooldown laps, and not to get pad imprints on the rotors when parking after a session. (tip: handbrake on an F82 uses the dedicated rear drum brake)

I wasn't careful enough on one track day and ended up with massive judder from front rotors with pad imprints. I eventually managed to clean off the transfer using some track pads - but you hear all sorts of people talking about 'warped rotors needed replacing after a track day'... same symptoms, but I bet in most cases if you measure the rotor it's not actually warped.

Since then I use track pads ... but the pain of doing pad swaps for every track day meant I went to the track less often. :-(

I like it. I see a traditional hofmeister kink. Looks fresh with some traditional BMW design cues, doesn't look like a compete mess like the beeverteeth G80/82. M2 has very good potential. My last hope for a new BMW.

Nice info, thanks! Do you think the compound itself at 60% will hold or wear down after the first day for an intermediate driver?
If it'll hold for some rounds those two days I won't have to spend a fortune on new OEM pads

Do you suggest putting it in neutral and handbrake when parking?

This is the track;

FIA Formula 3 approved with F1 and F2 testing approved.

You can use the handbrake as it doesn't use the brake pads.

Ask your dealer if they can overnight you the optional sport brake pads first; even just the fronts would suffice.

I did a day on OE street pads. Got mad brake judder mid-day, but it's not like they failed me, although it was my first event and I was slow in the rain with DSC on. Never put them on again. Like pbar, got ferodos to clean up the rotors and they've been on the car since then lol

Taking a second look at that new 2-series rendering, i really don’t like those triangles in the front bumper. Would be 100x better without them.

BMW carry two types of steel? Hmm.

The thing I was worried about with the OE steel ones is that they'll burn through the pad material and shave off the remaining 60% of the pads to the point they're useless, not so much worried about the heat fade although less is better.

Guess I can see if they can get some performance pads if they're better.
Do you have the part number for them by any chance?

And yeah, I was thinking about just changing the front pads.

34112284765
34212284766

Maybe they'll have them in a central DC or another dealership in the country

I don't remember what my pads looked like before, but they had 57k km on them. With 60% pads left on stock rotors, you should be totally fine. I like to let off the gas on the straight because at my skill level, I see no point in diving into a chicane from 240 to 60 at the end of the straight. Rather save my brakes

It seems both of the pics are definitely distorting/emphasizing the front more into focus than the rest of the car, making it hard to tell the actual proportions.

Apparently the color is "Thundernight Purple."

Luckily we will get real life pics at gooowood on the 8th, not just launch day press release photos.

Mine have 44k km, car estimate 60k front and 70k back on idrive.

Will contact dealer and ask for a price, seems to be around 600-660 euros.
