If you look at the photos in my post #450 you can see the roof rack mounting locations go into the steel structure, not the CF roof panel. The roof panel is just keeping the rain out and stiffening the whole thing, it's not the main structure.
Oh got you. I know the sunroof version had it and read somewhere a while back about the CF roof not supporting it for some reason but I didn't know the validity of that claim.

That is hilarious! Undoubtedly using the OEM mounting threads. And seems to be hauling something heavy. It probably makes contact with the roof seeing the minuscule gap between metal and wood.

Angry Has anyone else called BMW North America and BMW Germany?

Has anyone else called BMW North America at 1(800) 831-1117 and BMW Germany? We as consumers need to voice our opinions when something is not correct or address such as NO roof rack mounts on the M4 Carbon Fiber Roofs.

Because I just did again, for them to address this issue. BMW M Division this needs to be addressed and fixed ASAP!

Not acceptable

Sadly nope. M3 shares the trip piece between roof top and side of the car with 3 series so it has the flaps at all 4 corners. However, there is only carbon fiber under the flaps. Not sure if the regular sunroof roof can support bike racks

...this was part of the reason I specifically searched for an M with a sunroof
...that and the fact that I can mount my GoPro on the sunroof during track days!

I contacted them through "My BMW" on the website. I suggested they make a dealer-installed retrofit kit available for existing cars. As expected, got a generic response. It doesn't hurt to voice this though - maybe they actually do listen to comments received and if there is enough of a push might react. Wouldn't hurt to chime in through Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, either.

Other solution is to install the clamp version crossbars but I'm not a fan of this version.

OK guys an M4 lover here. Unfortunately with the current M4 with Carbon Fiber Roof there is NO actual roof mounting brackets/bolts for a Thule Rack. For some reason they did not include that, to me it's a total F-up, because the previous model had that. You can only get the bolts with the Metal w/Sunroof option. I don't care about having a metal roof, BUT I do NOT want a sunroof. I don't get why it's not included and they have not fixed it yet. It can't be a structural thing because it bolts into the frame of the roof pillars.

I just looked at the brand new M5, here is a photograph of the roof mounting/bolt. Can anyone tell me is it actually functional on the new M5.

On the new M5 it appears there is now only one mounting point instead of two.

I am working hard to get this standard option on all BMWs in the M4.
