I have the feeling that separating coupes into a 4 series will bring a greater price and trim differential than presently exists between coupes and sedans. This new M4 is going to be one heck of a desirable car. Things like an all new intake design are highly likely to migrate to the non-M N55. How much boost is this baby going to have, 2 bar?

Fender flares look a bit odd. I'll wait to see how this shapes out. Hopefully it doesn't end up like the C63 lol.
That camouflage is extensive so I wouldn't worry too much about it. The brakes already look improved over the E9x M3 with a larger caliper and 4 pistons up front. Maybe we will see an upgraded brake package in a future competition mode perhaps. As it stands now, the car will be lighter with a bigger brake. That is a step in the right direction.

What worries me the most, is the electric steering. I hope they have and take their time ironing out the kinks to give us what we expect from BMW. Bad steering alone will keep me from upgrading to a new M3 if they don't get it right. I don't care if the car is faster. I can make my current M3 faster with about 12K and retain the excellent tactile feedback I expect.

Sucks that we have to wait even longer to get it than the m6 GC!!!!
After all, the new 3 series sedan is already out! So why the wait?

The very first F30 mule was publicly spotted/photographed in Nov '09 IIRC. And it went on sale in the US in Feb '12. So based on that ~27 month turnaround, we could see the F82 in very late 2014. Maybe even early '15.

And I think the F30 chassis will see LCI for MY2016. So all you folks that get an F80/F82 in the first 1-2 model years, don't be getting all mad when it changes shortly after!

I do like the M6 steering wheel, suitably looks more modern than what we have in our E9X M3s. In the looks department if the M6 Coupe is anything to go by I'm sure this will look great once finalised.

I bet that steering wheel won't make it into that car. Usually mules have a round piece of camo over the roundel on the wheel.

Cool pics thanks for posting.

That exhaust system looks more finished than any of the 4 door mules we have seen.

I wish they would bring back fender flares with a heavy e30 M3 influence.

There should only be 18 months separating the F30 and F32 at most and unlike when the E9X M3 was developed all models will not launch basically at the same time- the F80 has been developing for a significant amount of time now meaning that the bulk of F82 development is now at the same stage as F80.

M is starting development much sooner and will bring cars to market much sooner. M6 GC is basically done, F80 will be done by fall.

What may happen is that the US sits it out for a while when taking the new M models like they did with the M5, but the M6 is basically from SOP.

It will be interesting to see what the market decides But The E92 is supposed to have production until next Spring.

Well, since we know the F32 will come out until summer/fall 2013, the M coupe version will certainly be a full year (or close to) after that F32 intro. Which lines up with the Fall 2014 theory.

But I agree that it does seem the ///M versions are hot on the heels of the standard series version. Which is a good thing.

I think that wheel is the new (i.e. standard) ///M and M-sport steering wheel for the Fxx generation of cars. Minus the F10 M5, of course. But that was the first developed M-car for the Fxx generation.

I'm disappointed it doesn't look more aggressive.

I just saw a 2013 RS5 and that thing has it in the looks department. From the massive front honeycomb grill and new LED's all the way to the back with its full muscular stance from all angles. It's just a sick looking car.

Of course the new M3 will beat it in performance but let's face it it's not only about that or everyone would sell their M3's for other faster track cars.

If any of you have not had a chance to see the new RS5 in person you should. They just arrived in my city on Friday and first one on the street was yesterday night.

You have X-ray vision?!

C'mon the F32 4 series hasn't even been revealed yet we don't know what this looks like underneath. And those fenders look plenty big to me.

If you were to compare F30 M3 vs. M4 just based on camo, the M3 looks way better. Even with it covered, the stance of the M3 is just ridiculous. Here's hoping that BMW doesn't go soft with the M4.

Yes, here's a visual comparison we did last year (from http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=611044)

Quote:
Reactions to the F32 coupe spy photos and videos we've posted so far have included some complaints that the F32 looks too long or has lost its sporty proportions. We beg to differ.

We revisited the earliest E92 coupe test prototype photos from back at the end of 2005 and we've posted below a comparison of the F32 coupe at this early stage camouflage compared to the E92 coupe during its early stages of testing.

Scrutinizing the photos, it's easy to see how a camouflaged coupe appears overly lengthy and bulky, especially with respect to the front and rear fascias, which still have heavy and cumbersome camouflage.

Keeping in mind how attractive the E92 coupe turned out in production form, we wouldn't bet against BMW with respect to the F32's design. Of course it's always a bit silly to declare final judgment on a car based on preliminary heavy-camo images, so the point here is that it's wise to reserve your judgments until the car is fully revealed (or at least loses most of its camouflage).

I will say I think the F30 m3 has a nicer stance. As I said earlier in this thread the M4 looks a good bit narrower than the sedan. It's also probably longer. The sedan is going to look more chunky and square which gives it that aggressive stance. The final M4 and M3 I am sure will look great either way. I do hope I see a 2 series sometime soon. I would love to get an idea of what an M2 might look like.

I really love this pic! It looks pretty aggressive so far. I know its just the prototype but hopefully the fenders will be flared out just a tad more.
I can't wait to see this thing in it's final form and maybe add it to the stable

I agree with this. I have a strong preference for the styling proportions of the E92 M3 vs. E90 M3 (hence why I bought one), but the mules of the F80 do seem more aggressive than this F82. Maybe the additional doors of the F80 give a visual impression of shorter overhangs? Maybe the coupe really is longer.

Both look good, but I'm already planning how to make an F80 happen via ED in a few years
