Should I avoid carbon "look" M4 external parts on Ebay?

I want to add carbon external parts (splitter/diffuser etc) to my M4 CP.

I see most suppliers are selling "carbon look" which isn't genuine but looks very similar.

Anyone using and happy with carbon "look" parts?

It looks flat, carbon has a 3D look from the weave and the light hitting it. Look at the AliExpress thread to find cheap real CF that fits good.

Or go to Mike @ X-PH for great prices on his real carbon bits.

You should avoid ANY carbon fiber parts from eBay. Especially, faux carbon.
They're all shit. Go to a big BMW meet and you'll see what I mean.

100%

Everyone thinks their Chrysler 300 looks like a rolls Royce phantom until they're next to one.

You'll feel like the Chrysler dude with the "Carbon look" around anyone with real carbon fiber. It happens without fail at every car meet… the "carbon look" guy is justifying why he got the pieces although no one asked lol

That is so true. I would honestly avoid getting those parts from eBay. I've gotten carbon parts from eBay, ranging from low to high cost and they are all the same IMO. The only difference with something higher priced may be the fit. Buy once, cry once. Don't you want to look at your car and not have to stare at that eBay carbon part, wondering if anyone else notices? Ha!

I bought some lower quality carbon fiber parts (side mirror caps), and have already pulled them off due to the UV turning the weave lighter, and subsequently the gel coat failing, causing the weave to crack. I have the rear OEM carbon spoiler, and the front intake carbon covers and they're both in great condition. Spend more money to get something that won't crack or fade.

The "Carbon look" parts are hydro dipped plastic pieces so avoid those specifically.

The replica real Carbon parts are not that bad. Fitment is good enough unless you are building a show car.

I run a Ebay lip and rear valance. I went with just black. It avoids the cheesy fake carbon look and its cheaper for something that will likely be destroyed.

That isn't eBay but to answer your question I've been happy with them.

I have their canards and spoiler. No complaints

I have an RW spoiler and upper splitters and am happy with their quality/fit. One complaint I've seen is the clear coat may not last as long as OEM cf pieces, but I guess time will tell. Decent quality for the price

Understood.

If you're local, obviously they'll install it. But irrespective I've been happy with their products and customer service.

I have to contradict my own previous post because I fitted a CS replica lip from eBay sold by mmpartslv recently and the fit/finish/lack of constant adjustment needed during installation blew my mind. All the brackets were provided and I mounted one time only. Perfect fit! Didn't even use an inch of 3M tape. You do have to provide your own fasteners.
It really was a great purchase for $850 out the door shipped.
It was just wrapped in Suntek so I'll probably never be able to comment on the clear coat quality.

Even real carbon fiber off eBay has a low quality look to it. Their finish looks 'wavy' in the way it reflects light. For visible pieces like the trunk spoiler I would avoid it. This is what I notice the most with replicas. For an oem replica diffuser I've seen some okay ones. But every now and then you see some oem ones on the classified section so if I were you I'd just keep an eye out there.

It's a hit or miss when getting carbon from eBay. Most of them either do not fit well or just look cheap.

We offer our carbon fiber parts that we test in-house for perfect fitment before release. It's also high quality for a bargain price.

Please note that we are not restocking any of our carbon fiber parts; the part will be discontinued once it's gone.

We also offer RW Carbon, MHC, Dinmann, etc...

Only "carbon look" id ever consider is the front splitter and that's only because frp is way cheaper and doesn't crack. If you have destroyed a few splitters it might be worth considering. Even then id rather have gloss black so it doesn't look poserish.

Ebay is really hit or miss. jc sportline has been the best I've gotten of there.
