Driving without engine cover for a few days

Hey guys,

Do you think driving without my engine cover for a few days would be a problem? It is going to be getting refinished and I just wanted to see your thoughts on if it rained. I think it should be fine.

It's just there for looks. You'll be fine. And the car will definitely feel faster with the new painted cover 😛

You should see what I did to it.. I tried to paint it gloss black, and holy hell it looks like a bomb hit it 😂😂but yes, I know it gives an extra 50hp on summer days, while parked, at the car show🥴😂

FYI, Its known that the engine cover makes IATs hotter than without... I stopped running one since the hood is closed 99% of the time. Maybe if you do car shows and pop your hood to show off the engine bay, you could just install it at that time...

+2. No engine cover. Actually like how it looks without it as well.

It doesn't have anything to do with engine insulation? If there are any benefits to that..

Is this a legit thread? Is there any harm or benefit of not having a plastic cover on your engine?

What next...is there any harm in driving while the glove box door open?

1. Yes this thread is legit
2. There’s no harm in driving without the cover, it may actually lead to lower air temps
3. You can in fact drive with the glove box open

Let us know if you had anymore questions. I can’t imagine anyone on this forum would act condescendingly if you happened to have anything you were unsure of

Fwiw, smartass, the plastic engine cover is functional on some cars.

Seems like common sense to me, but perhaps I overestimated the populous on this board.

lol..

I was more worried about if this was equivalent to removing the cowl cover on the 335s (that was the comparison you should have made, but, you made the lazy and sarcastic comparison of the glove box, which is not apples to apples in any way), and subjecting the engine to potential debris and water and possibly getting a misfire. I have read stories of this happening(cowl cover removal), and wanted to see if anyone had seen anything to warrant a possible problem.

With hurricane season here, it could be raining sideways, which, it was yesterday, and the "what if" came to me, so I posted it. I will check with you next time so I don't have to labor you to willingly reply to my thread <3

I, too, have overestimated the populace.
