So I noticed majority of the people in the thread have the silver wheels, does anyone have the black OEM 19's and is the, "Grey" dust less or more noticeable than the black dust from the stock pads?

Significantly less dust, it is worth making the change. I am glad I did. There is a slight noise when backing up in the morning when the brakes are cold, not sure if it's dust or what. Other than that, these are great brakes and you will notice a huge difference in brake dust. They bite a little harder IMO. Don't have any before/after photos, I usually wash my car once a week, the rims I always clean but could skip that's how much of a difference it makes!

I reread your question over and over, and it doesn't seem to make sense to me.

Are you asking about the color of the dust from the Power Stop vs the OEM pads? Or are you asking if the OEM dust is more noticeable on the silver OEM wheels vs the black OEM wheels?

Answer to options one:
Not sure if the color of the dust from the Power Stop Pad is "Grey" or the color of the OEM pad is "Black". But there is way less dust from the Power Stops vs OEM pads. Like WAY less.

Answer to option one:
To me, I would notice it more on the black wheel because those black wheels look so good when they're shiny and clean.

Put mine on the other week. So far the dust is less noticeable even on the black OEM 19"s. The color of the dust + the fact that it dusts WAY less helps keep the glossy black look.

Like the above posters suggested, the brake dust is so much less than the OEM pads that your wheels will look "cleaner" no matter what color they are.

Has anyone fitted these to a uk spec car, I'm assuming the parts will be identical but thought I'd ask. Rock auto are quite reasonable with shipping costs. I've ruined a perfectly good set of oem pads on a track day so thought I may go with these instead of replacing with oem's. I know they aren't track pads but my car is 95% daily driver.

No. These are for the standard brakes. The pad material itself is a ceramic compound vice the semi-metallic of the OEM pads. A ceramic type pad in general has less dust. Be warned though, ceramic pads are not meant for track days but are great for a DD.

Thanks for the info! Might consider these once my OE pad runs out. I hate dirty wheels!!!

I just put these on my car tonight... we'll see about all of this squealing when I go driving tomorrow. Did the break-in and 0 noise during that 20min ordeal.

I wanted to share a few things from my own experiences here.

1. At 23k miles or so, iDrive says my OEM pads will last until 110k miles front and 80k miles rear. I'm pretty sure that's enough dust to cover the greater northeast with iron contamination.

2. I previously installed power stop pads on multiple other vehicles with trepidation due to their low price point and manufacturing in China. Like so many things, it's not the price or the place of manufacturer that matters. And Power Stop makes a fine pad.

3. I JUST installed akebono euro ceramic pads and zimmerman z-coated rotors on my wife's 2008 535xit and they are total shit together. Awful bite that immediately goes even softer, easily gained 10-25 feet on stopping distance for EQUAL PEDAL PRESSURE at 30-40mph to 0 stops. Meaning we have to apply notably more pedal pressure to achieve the same result. And this is after a break-in.

I bring this up because I like Akebono Euros, and I like Zimmerman Z-coated, and have had good luck with both before. But for some reason, it's a bad combo here. I've read at least one forum that noted these pads on the zinc-coated rotors have issues. Not sure why.

And I will most likely replace with $30 power stop brake pads, which I should have done in the first place.

The bottom line to all this is brake feel and performance is EVERYTHING, but as long as you can achieve near stock levels of daily driving performance, why not go with a cheap and dust-free pad instead.

The squealing happens when the car is cold and you back out of the garage. Sounds like a velociraptor dying. Doing the break in helped but not completely

I have done a huge number of brake jobs without squeal due to liberal application of good, thick anti-seize on the entire brake backing and any clips that touch the pad. Basically anywhere the pad touches the caliper.

People think this is anti-seize, but that is not it's intention. It is a vibration damper.

Squeal comes from brake pads vibrating and creating harmonics. Brake pads basically just sit between a caliper and a rotor - they are not well secured and they have free movement. Liberal brake grease needs to be applied to avoid noise. And usually if you have brake pad related noise at any point in the future, the problem is with a lack of brake grease assuming proper installation.
