Funny thing is the Toyota Marai caught my eyes first I always forget that it exists only in Cali and was given a second generation for some reason (I can't imagine they sold more than triple digits )

The method specified in J1470 states that "the throttle shall, as rapidly as possible, be opened as fully as will ensure maximum acceleration without operating kickdown" and held at that position until the car reaches the end of the testing area. "Kickdown," as defined by the SAE, means "a forced downshift to the lowest possible gear (first or low gear)." The PDK-equipped GT3 can do nearly 80 km/h in first. Certainly, flooring the accelerator in an automatic GT3 would trigger a multi-gear downshift. So while the procedure calls for the manual GT3 to run full-throttle nearly to redline in third, the same procedure prohibits full-throttle acceleration in the automatic version of the very same car. Hence, the PDK passes the test, while the manual fails. |

I rewatched a portion of Jason Cammisa's podcast in which they talk about the regulations which may even be a reason for the notorious long gearing in the GT4/Spyder. Very interesting information around the 40-minute mark.

It is. I really like what Ford is doing EV wise.
When it gets time to move on from ICE it seems Ford makes what I want. Normal looking vehicles, good range (range listed is with tow apparently), usability and a proper steering wheel |

The F-150 Lightning is specifically designed for labor, including 11 outlets designed for plugging in power tools, a front-trunk storage area under the hood, and a special model made for fleets. They've also been saying it's great for emergency usage, with how it can be a clean moving power generator for lights and heating, which could translate well to mobile command stations for police and rescue too since the F-150 comes with the installation of a bidirectional charger. Think it'll do great, yet to see what the competition is up to in the EV game. |
