The method specified in J1470 states that "the throttle shall, as rapidly as possible, be opened as fully as will ensure maximum acceleration without operating kickdown" and held at that position until the car reaches the end of the testing area. "Kickdown," as defined by the SAE, means "a forced downshift to the lowest possible gear (first or low gear)."

The PDK-equipped GT3 can do nearly 80 km/h in first. Certainly, flooring the accelerator in an automatic GT3 would trigger a multi-gear downshift. So while the procedure calls for the manual GT3 to run full-throttle nearly to redline in third, the same procedure prohibits full-throttle acceleration in the automatic version of the very same car. Hence, the PDK passes the test, while the manual fails.

I rewatched a portion of Jason Cammisa's podcast in which they talk about the regulations which may even be a reason for the notorious long gearing in the GT4/Spyder. Very interesting information around the 40-minute mark.

Outdated regulations are stopping us from having more advanced lighting that Europe and other countries will get. Essentially these lights are smarter and safer and can even project images in them. I'm pretty sure our laser headlights are also dumbed down for the US market.

Does this mean the F8X in the US don't use the adaptive LED lights features?

So weird it's not allowed...

Sorry guess adaptive was the wrong choice of words. We have adaptive headlights, but the range of capabilities of these lights are greatly reduced from what vehicles in other countries can do.

Hence why a company can even sell a car with a literal ass on the front. You can sell any vehicle right now, at insane prices.

It is. I really like what Ford is doing EV wise.

When it gets time to move on from ICE it seems Ford makes what I want.

Normal looking vehicles, good range (range listed is with tow apparently), usability and a proper steering wheel

What I would love to see is how they implement the EV truck into the work force. If they can successfully do that, the EV truck will be a win.

Ford trucks and vans constitute 40 percent of the country's commercial vehicles and F vehicles for 8 percent of the workforce.

The F-150 Lightning is specifically designed for labor, including 11 outlets designed for plugging in power tools, a front-trunk storage area under the hood, and a special model made for fleets.

They've also been saying it's great for emergency usage, with how it can be a clean moving power generator for lights and heating, which could translate well to mobile command stations for police and rescue too since the F-150 comes with the installation of a bidirectional charger.

Think it'll do great, yet to see what the competition is up to in the EV game.
