For those of you with 700+ whp what tires do you guys use and what size rims? I'm having issues gripping off a 50 roll with 305/30/19 r888r and was curious if there was a better tire choice in that rim size ? I would like to avoid downsizing to a 17" rim if possible

Keeping the same wheel diameter, you would probably want to go with a version of the 305 mm wide Micky Thompson ET Street drag radial for highway roll racing. It has a softer sidewall and is designed much more for you application. Your Nitto R888r has a much stiffer sidewall, needs a good bit of heat to work, and is really designed for autocross/track day stuff.
Think about it this way... a wider tread width tire tends to offer more lateral grip and a taller sidewall tends to allow more grip on acceleration. A stiffer sidewall reacts faster to inputs and can negatively impact grip on acceleration whereas a softer, taller sidewall will squat down and become wider while soaking up some of the initial acceleration shock. My ideal vote is to drop down to an 18" rear wheel with a 305/35-18 drag radial. High speed stability can be come a factor so exactly how extreme of a drag radial you go with require some trial and error. Then you can think about suspension changes to give you more weight transfer to the rear. |

I run a 18/11 wheel paired with
315/30 Azenis RT660's like them much more then r888's. I'm done with the r888 road noise life..

The NT555RII's are kind of a hybrid between the old NT555R's and the NT05's, and have more flex without giving up too much in stability. With a little bit of warming up they've had no issues hitting from 50mph.

Even my 305 RE71R's hook at a 50 roll (Pure stage 2's @ 650RWHP)... R888R are a decent amount stickier than the RE71R's. I feel that the RT660's are just as noisy, TBH. |

Hi all I'm in the same boat here and looking for some new tires.
I'm running apex ex-7's with the following specs: 19x10 et25 front with 275/30/19 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 tires 19x10.5 et45 rear with 305/30/19 Hankook Ventus V12 tires I was thinking going Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 in the following sizes: 265/35/19 front 295/35/19 rear My concerns are I do street driving to meets and back and tend to do highway pulls a lot, autocross, and I plan on doing 3-5 track days this season and I want a tire that can handle most weather situations except for cold and snow as I store the car for winter and don't really drive in the rain unless of course I caught in it. I'm running kratos turbos with 650whp and potently plan on running and e50 blend so I'll more than likely be close to 700 if not more and need something that can handle this. Any thoughts and I'm not opposed to downgrading rim sizes if needed. |

Before buying other tires experiment with lowering PSI for better grip. Try 28 then try 25. Keep an inflator handy since the TPMS bitches when you run less than 28.
