A052/RT660 Sizing Questions

Hi All - I just picked up an F80 and I'm finishing prep for it's first shakedown but have a tire sizing question

I've run A052 / RT660's on my previous track cars and know they run wide but have extra 18x10 wheels from my E92 and want to run 295s.

I plan to run A052 in 295/35/18s on these 18x10 inch wheels this weekend so I don't miss this event (I'll be running 18x10.5 long-term once they arrive).Does anyone have experience with 295s on 18 inch wheels?

I think 285/30/18 will be too much of a size reduction and 295/40/18s will probably be too tall - I can't recall of any good 200trw options in 285/35/18 which would be ideal for these wheels.

Thanks!

The only 285/35r18 option I know of is Nankang NS-2R. I’m thinking about picking up those in the spring for my square 18x10s

Oh nice, haven't run Nankangs but I've heard good things.

I'm going to run the 295/35/18 A052s on the 18x10's for this weekend then swap them to the 18x10.5s once they arrive.

Not excited for the lack of steering feel that I expect but I also don't want to deal with 285 or 295 in 30/18 size which are a 6-7% decrease in diameter compared to stock.

295/35/18 up front will work based on suspension setup, camber, height, wheel offset

OD variance mainly matters for running Traction Control

There are a few track F8x here that run large staggered sizes but with aftermarket coil overs running smaller OD coils/springs. A lot of negative camber to clear the outer fender as well, possibly reshaping the fender liner as well with a heat gun

I had in mind to run 295/35/18 square but opt to run 295/30/18 for clearance

Side by side, I had a 295/30/18 Toyo RR next to a 295/35/18 A052, A052 running large dwarfed the RR … forgot to take a side by side but it was a significant difference

Oh yeah on my E82 I noticed that my 265 A052s were wider than 275 RRs, I think RT660s are even wider which is insane. They're both super thickkk.

I'm not too worried about clearance up front, running 5" x 2.25" spring with -3* Camber.

Just worried that I'll need to run a giant spacer with 295s on 18x10 et33 wheels, guessing that I'll need about 15mm up front.

Oh interesting, I didn't realize the RT660s ran so wide. I did a quick search, and this guy is comparing it to a 285 PS4S and it looks to be even wider than that!

Pretty much all the go to 200TW tires run wide. I’m running Nankang CR-1 at this time, run really wide as well

I’m running MCS 2WR with a Hyperco Helper spring on top of a Swift 5” 60mm primary spring, front camber set to -3.5 to -3.7

Will run Square setup from here on out, Wheels will be Titan-7 Forged T-S5 18x10.5” +34 using a 15mm front spacer wrapped with Toyo RR 295/30/18

Motorsports Hardware 14x1.25 to 14x1.5 78mm Stud Conversion, fits a 15mm spacer fine … but moving to a longer stud for spacer options

Hope this helps
