I agree. I can't afford time with lawsuits as well. Hence, I am trying to resolve the issue by any means possible. I love the darn car, and would hate to see it go because of some funny vibrations.

As an update: I opened up a case with BMW NA, and they advised me to get a second opinion from another dealership. I will go to another place on Monday.

Tire pressure, tire quality etc have been thoroughly checked. It could very well be that the Conti's suck big time!

I re-read this again. Yeah, let me experiment around for a sweet spot then. Thanks!

As per BMW it's resolved. As per me, living with it. The rear view mirror still shakes at 80 MPH. I just don't bother anymore. Just sucking it up!

Is it just the mirror? Or is the car vibrating as well? What did they do to solve the issue?

The front wheels still vibrate and you can feel it in the steering. BMW techs say it's normal. The dealership just road force balanced the tires and the tires failed the test. Thy ended up putting a new set of tires and said that the problem is gone. The BMW engineer also said that this is the best you can get. You will get vibrations as this is a sports car etc etc.

Thanks for the input. I expect certain vibrations/road noise with this car, but what mine is doing is far from normal. Best of luck with yours.

Thanks. Care to share your M's shenanigans? Maybe someone else can add his experience?

So does the car vibrates or just the steering wheel?

No problem. My car has a horrible drone and vibration between 70 and 80 on the highway from day one (8 miles, and now 1000). Dealer thought it was tire balancing, but that did not solve the issue. I am bringing it back tomorrow, hopefully they can find something! Will let you know what the resolution is.

The steering shims mildly and you can see it with your eyes. And, plus at higher speeds the vibration can be felt in the steering and the inside rear view mirror stats to dance and makes everything behind blurry.

I see. Yeah, it's not that pronounced for me. Ask them to road force balance the tires, not the regular wheel balance.

That's what they did. Road force balance all four, and full alignment. Wish that cured it! It is horrible to drive on the highway.

I still think u should go to a tire shop and have it roadforce balanced. I had vibration and they rotated the soft side of the tire and my vibration is gone. Dealers don't know anything. Its more work to do so I almost guarantee dealer wont even bother doing it.

For example, I had my dealer top off fluids. When I checked my dashcam all the tech did was fill up washer fluid and didn't bother checking anything else.

I'm having the same issue as OP. But it didn't start until after the rear diff was replaced for another issue I was having. I noticed the instant I took it on the interstate and drove above 65mph...a droning/humming/growling sound that starts precisely at 65mph and continues until past 80mph. The dealership said its the tires and that its normal...uh, it started IMMEDIATELY after you serviced the car and replaced the rear diff. Not a gradual onset due to feathering or cupping of the front tires. Alignment was off too. Regional Service manager guy happened to be at the dealership that day, drove it, said he has heard it before and to replace the rear axles and bearings. Picked it up a week later... No change except the alignment seems improved. However it still pulls to the right. 5500 miles on the odometer.

Any suggestions? I will call up the SA tomorrow and see what he says.

Thanks.
I know it's been awhile, but I JUST started having this issue with my car. TooFan328i, have you found the cause of this vibration??

My first thought was that one of my wheels (20" aftermarket) were unbalanced, so I got them balanced, helped a little, but the vibration still happened right at 60 mph. Now I'm thinking busted wheel (s), without hitting any known potholes. Anyway, I swapped wheels back to my stocks. Vibration continued, right at 60 mph. I've had my car for close to a year now, pretty sensitive to it's behavior, and this JUST started happening this week.

So it's definitely not the wheels or unbalanced tires, the usual suspects... What have you found to be the issue? At least, I hope you've found the issue.

If u compare with other street cars, our car vibrates and it's the feed back from road. The amount of vibration highly depends on tires, like how stiff the side wall is. I had huge vibration before due to unbalanced wheel. Our car is very rough but also very robust. Just ignore small issues, they will eventually come to u. Just have fun lol.

Put in this way. If u have driver assistance package (steering wheel will shake when u hit the lane line or try to turn with car besides u), drive on highway to 80mph and hit the lane line, if u can obviously feel the extra vibration from computer, u are totally fine.
