BMW M4 for towing a quad?

So I am really willing to get a BMW M4 as my car and that will be the only one I can choose. I checked the X5M but it's more expensive and would prefer a M4 more for the looks. Now, I also like to do some quad and I need to know if I can tow a 750lb quad.

Just to clarify: You want an M4 to tow something?

Well it started out I wanted a M4 because of the car. Then this week-end I did some quad for the first time and I loved it. So if I ever get a quad for myself I want to know if it's possible to tow it.

Buy the M4 and a $5,000 Tacoma.

I've got a 2013 X6M Fully Loaded, Low Mileage (25K), in Melbourne Red Metallic (with a hitch) that I just queried my M4 dealer if they were interested in buying. Run the KBB value and PM me if you're interested...

O-60 in 4.4, 180 MPH, AWD, ***AND*** a 6600 lb towing capacity!

That's not an option for me right now with the insurance and the current state of my life. And even if I could, I don't want a second hand car that's... not as quite luxurious or safe.

You do realize I don't drive the quad on a public road where there are plenty of 2 ton blocks with wheels, right?

I mean, if the quad trails wouldn't require me to use public roads... no need for towing, and could actually tow the M4 maybe ha ha ha.

Just because the engine has enough torque & HP to tow doesn't mean the frame or suspension are braced in the correct areas to tow, well, anything. The online owner's manual refers to emergency vehicle towing with a rope or tow bar using the offset fittings in the bumper, but says nothing about long term towing with a more permanent tow hook attached.

So then... what should I do? Just get a normal x5 or x6...?

Maybe, or get a beater truck to tow your quad. How often do you expect to tow it, every day? The nice thing about beater trucks is once they've depreciated to around $3-5k they stay that price pretty much forever. Somebody always needs a truck.

Well once every 2 week-end in the summer really.

But I think I will do the smart move here and get a used M4 and used X5 or maybe even used x5m . I can't believe how used can lower the cost. A fully loaded M4 is 100k CAD and I can get a used one with the exact same options for 80K CAD. Wow. Imagine if I would even wait another year or so.

No, no tow hitch available for the M4 and most likely no one will make one.

I believe I've read in the owners manual of previous M3's (E46 and E92) that BMW does NOT recommend these cars tow anything. They are not meant to. I would think this has not changed for the F8x BMWs either. Get something else for towing.

Cheers.

Seriously? Are you looking to buy or lease the M4? if the answer is "buy" then go buy a used X5M

Well at first I wanted to buy it, because if I lease it IMO it's not worth it at all.

But actually now that you remind me of leasing, I could get a new X5 and lease the M4.
