Okay finally got it installed! The delrin feels great and slick. The topology is a little fat for my taste but I'm getting used to it. The sphereology is the perfect size/shape.

Pics in order: Topology in black, Sphereology in white, Topology in red.

Surprisingly, the shifting feel is different from my previous Flossy knob even though they are about the same weight. I think it has to do with weight distribution and different leverage from the difference in hand position.

The delrin itself feels great; very smooth. I like the feel of the Sphereology more than the Topology. The topology is a wee bit too fat for my hands, but I'm getting used to it. In order of preference for color, it is: white, black, red. The red looks a bit clown nose to me.

No issues. They are great products. Made in USA too! But as you know, I went all CAE Ultra on my F80. #becauseracecar

jray 23 and exo-shell

do you guys drive the new 18 F80 MT , the raceseng knob I bought is not fitting properly with BMW adapter and my installer says the shifter arm needs to be sanded and it worked fine in my earlier 16 F80

Do you know if BMW modified the shifter arm in 18's?

This is the info from Raceseng why the adaptor did not fit. Are you facing same issue on a 18 F80?

"The ID of our adapter measures 13.92mm. Don measured the shifter arm and its 13.93mm. That is .0003" of a difference which is a human hair cut in half 10 times. This has to be a slightly oversized OEM shifter arm which I've never run into before with a BMW shifter arm. It can happen considering their shift knob is plastic and these kind of dimensional tolerances don't matter but in our case they do."

I might be able to give you some useful information.

When I got my Raceseng adapter, it didn't fit because I was running a UUC Short Shift Kit. The OEM shifter shaft actually tapers towards the top because the OEM shift knob is plastic and is held on by friction. The UUC on the other hand was a straight 14mm shaft; no taper. The OEM knob could still fit on the UUC due to the plastic, but there was no way in hell the Raceseng aluminum adapter was going to slide over the 14mm shaft.

I had to bore out the adapter to make it fit. I used a dremel and a file to get it done. The result wasn't pretty, but it did the job. And you don't see that part anyways. I would suggest trying to bore it out a bit. If you have access to a workshop with a lathe, it'll be easy as pie and cleaner too.

I can post pictures later tonight of how it turned out for me.

thanks for the valuable info, which yr is ur M because i had no issues on the 16 using stock shifter. Raceseng is sending me another adapter today and hopefully it will fit.

Another point as u mention if i go for a SSK the raceseng adapter may need some work and not fit as it is.

Mine is a 2016. But again, doesn't matter when comparing the year to the OEM shifter since I had an SSK installed.

yes i understand but do u think the shifter arm is different in 18 vs 16, why did it fit the 16 but issues in the 18?

I got the mperformance shift boot from a fellow bmw guy and had the raceseng knob installed and it works great and i like it except the installer installed the shift boot below the adapter and i dont like the look and want the shift boot to cover the adapter, does the shift boot need to be cut to make that happen

Sorry, didn't see your post. I can't tell how your installer did the boot with that photo. You need to lift up the boot and look underneath. Hopefully it is tied on there with a zip tie. If that's the case, you should be able to cut the zip tie then tie another zip tie after repositioning the boot.

The only problem you might run into is that the boot itself is cut too short now. So when you throw the shifter into reverse, the boot might not have enough material to stretch that far.

Good luck.

I didnt have any issue with the stock boot which was used in my old M. Are you saying the M performance boot is smaller than stock boot and could run into the issue of placing in reverse

If i leave it this way other than looks is there an issue because the shifter shifts damn good

I'm not saying anything. I can't tell from your photo, so I'm just giving you a heads up in the different scenarios.
