2018 M3 Competition AW/SO/DCT w/34.5k miles: What's it worth?
Hi, I find myself driving my M3C less and less these days as I now have 2 kids and need more space to take things around. It mainly sits in the garage unless I get a long road trip with nice weather at which point I'll take the M3. Anyway, I'm getting the itch for an RS6 since I can use it more for family use. I have received a trade in offer but want to see what this is really worth in the private market. Time is limited as I could be signing the deal today though the RS6 would need to be shipped to me (still need to work out the details if I end up signing). The car: 2018 M3 Competition Alpine White with Sakhir Orange interior 34.5k miles Drivers assistant package Executive Package Active Blindspot detection Carplay Wireless Charging 81,095 original MSRP Mods that will come with the car (taking some stuff off the are shown in the pics): M performance carbon fiber spoiler M performance side skirts M performance CS replica from RW Carbon Mudflaps from TLG M Performance exhaust tip replicas (the ones that everyone seems to have). I will be taking the M performance V2 steering wheel, CF DCT shift knob, CF Brake handle, Winter floor mats, M performance diffuser, and M performance exhaust off the car and listing it separately. I also have a set of 513M wheels with Blizzaks that will be up for sale if I end up selling this car. The good: - The car was leased by me when new and I bought out the lease. It has never seen a car wash (always hand washed by me since day 1). Has not been driving in the snow after for the first two years and even then it was just a weekend car. - I have been OCD since day one with this car (can verify with my posts). I don't take it into the city or any place with bad roads. - This car has never been tuned or tracked (can verify with the dealer if you wish to pay for inspection). - Mostly driving on road trips - Ceramic coated last year - No dings or dents and paint has hardly any fine scratches on it (again I am OCD). - The interior leather is still matte as can be seen in the pics. The original steering wheel was taken off at 200 miles so will also be in like-new condition. - The car has been garaged. - I had a full inspection of the car by M-Chanics in Mineola before my extended warranty expired about 2k miles ago. They heard a little noise in the diff and ended up getting insurance to approve the replacement with a brand new BMW OEM diff from the dealer. This ended up getting rid of some slop in the drivetrain I had (can see the posts I created on BP). Since then, break in service was done 1200 miles after diff replacement (required). - All service done at Rallye BMW except for the diff replacement (as I wanted someone who was an expert to inspect the car before warranty expiration). The unfortunate: - I got rear ended in my first year of ownership. It was traumatic for me at the time and I swore I would never keep the car but in the end it was just a replacement of the bumper and trunk. The repair was flawless (6 years now and paint still looks brand new). I have full documentation of this if someone wants but pics of the damage are below. I wouldn't have bought it out otherwise as I had the put option on the car at the end of the lease. Now on to pics from last summer/fall. Not much has changed since the car is garaged and hasn't been driven much since October (sits on a CTEK battery tender when I know I won't be driving it for a while). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

If you had a offer you should post the price you want for it privately if you want to consider it for a quick sale. You also probably could've reached out to some of the dealers who specialize in F80s for a quote.
I am guessing a dealer is probably offering you something in the high 40's/low 50's and you might be able to get more then that privately, but given NY is now under a foot of snow it's not a good time to go look at a private car. Without a doubt you're taking probably around a $6k hit vs what the car will retail at.

I checked other dealers and all of them thought the car was pristine but from their perspective they can’t sell it at a premium with the carfax. I got 51k from a dealer which was also fair but the tax benefit on trade made it better. I’ll be driving down to North Carolina Friday to trade it in. Looking forward to the drive but worried about the snow…

Going to keep that on the car. I tried taking it off but there’s really no way to without damaging the carbon fiber. The original silver trim had a small gap where I was able to pry the glass off to remove the screw. The gap on the carbon fiber version is almost zero.
