Best Tyres - Drag on Street
Hi All,
Whats the best tyres for drag racing. ( Normal road not drag strip or prepped surface, event is on a closed road ) Don’t have access to Mickeys Or Nittos ( have access to Toyo, Pirelli, Bridgestone, Michelin, Yokohama, Goodyear ) I’m running 20inch wheels ( don’t have time to get smaller wheels this time round ) Wondering if i can run 305/35/20 ? Would extra thickness help ? ( i’m currently running 305/35/20 PS4s ) |

My R888r tires hooked great on the street, but they needed to be warm to grip right, were loud on certain surfaces, and sucked in rain. My RT660 tires grip very well and don’t have the other problems.

I use Toyo R888R on my M4, it needs time to be warm, but it's got excellent traction once it's warm.

I also hear 888r's kind of rock on the street. I will hopefully get to experience them this weekend as my rear 'drag' wheels get in tomorrow, so I'm hoping to get them mounted up this weekend.
I've heard similar things about them needing a little heat, but generally hook up akin to a drag radial but still can take turns in confidence. Not usually what I hear about true DR's. I have a set of 555RII to use on my Cobra, but haven't gotten them mounted up yet so i should be able to compare approaches a bit soon.
