What they don't realize is that if they did spend the extra time and funds to produce something like this they would have the absolute best selling product on the market.

I have a hard time believing that every exhaust manufacturer is too lazy to try equalizing the pipe lengths. It's not like there are 2 manufacturers, there are probably 12+

Yeah, I kinda alluded to that in my previous post at the end, but once again, I'm not a business owner, and until I put my money where my mouth is and put a product out for sale and make a profit, I'm really in no position to say anything. For example, in my opinion the AA mid pipe is the only exhaust system worth getting on this car. But as a consumer, I just don't see how it's priced at ~$1000 with no resonators or mufflers at all. It's just pipes and clamps. Only AA know their overhead and margin though, so I really have sh** to say on the subject if I'm not selling anything cheaper or better.

Since the topic is how to make the car sound good, just thought I should add this. Not sure if everyone is following the Magnaflow resonator thread, but I recently met up with a fellow forum member to record my car with 2nd cat delete/Magnaflow 14156 resonator swap. In my opinion, for $350 installed, this is by far the cheapest and most effective way to remove rasp.
Here is the video of a few pulls. Reception has been unanimously positive so far. I'll let the video speak for itself: |

The un-equal lengths makes a lot of sense. I have catless DPs, going into the standard secondary cats, going into a custom mid pipes with a H pipe and 2 resonators. Finally, I have a Magnaflow valved rear muffler. Sounds better than most, but I would have preferred another set of resonators, or longer ones, as I get too much rasp. |

Thanks,
Stock downpipes. The only modifications to this otherwise stock exhaust are the 2nd cats deleted and replaced with Magnaflow 14156 resonators, and valves unplugged to stay fully open. This is also a base M3, not a comp pack. |

I've been in contact with Big Boost and they say they'll have a single turbo kit out in the Spring of 2020.....so I'm looking forward to that.

That's a great way to put it, every exhaust on the S55 basically sounds like a variation of this until someone can equalize the pipes (someone actually did, i wish he would share his video, it sounds nice and smooth).

I'm doing this because the aftermarket with regard to exhausts for this M3 is f'ing sad. I think the state of exhaust choices for F80 M3 enthusiasts shows that all the companies don't want to do any real R&D and are just chasing $'s I'm a big I6 enthusiast and have owned MKIV Supras, 335i's, old BMW 2800cs's, and a Dodge 3500 w/Cummins. I've even owned an old Ford truck with a 300ci I6 from way back in the 1970's and a BMW Bavaria (does anyone even know those ever existed?). I'm one of the few people that doesn't like the v8 sound. I prefer an Inline six, or pretty much any engine that is naturally balanced...... I just thought an exhaust company would've figured out why their exhaust sounds so bad, or even that there was an issue with the S55 by now....because I have

I agree with you, although I own an E92 M3 and E39 M5 and before that, I had an IS-F, I'm not a big fan of V8 sounds unless it's a Ferrari V8. I love the way straight 6, flat 6s, 5 cylinders, V10s and V12s sound. 4 cylinders and most V8s aren't my cup of tea. The S55 is a strange-sounding inline 6 at first but over time I've learned to love it as well. I know a lot of the press likes the way the C63 sound but I think it sounds like absolute garbage like most Mercedes V8s, no real character just a low bassy monotonic BRAAAAP BRAAAP BRAAAP. |

Hmm. That sounds too much like a muffled N55/B58 to me.
N54 in the E82 1er M is the best-sounding modern turbo BMW. I would like that sound, but on the other hand, I am also kinda glad the S55 sounds so different to other I6 BMW's on the road. And tbh, best S55 sound is a stock Comp car. And I actually really like that bit of rasp as it reminds of the S54... Every other aftermarket variation makes it worse, imho.
