F8X M3/M4 M-Performance Exhaust w/ Carbon Tips - weigh-in
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com The sound has a very throaty exhaust note, very exotic while retaining the S55's signature sound. When mashing on the throttle, and probably one of the best sounding exhausts on the market today. Before installation, we were able to collect data on weight. As we all are probably aware, BMW has taken a much different approach with the 5th Generation of the M3 (and M4) models concentrating on vehicle weight. Data OEM Exhaust Weights Full System: 69lbs M-Performance Exhaust Weights M-Performance Muffler: 14.20lb M-Performance Midpipe: 22.25lbs M-Performance Carbon Fibre Tips (ea): 1.0lb (x4) M-Performance Hardware (ea): 2.35lb Combined Weight: 42.80lbs. Important: Note that the M-Performance is a "Cut and Clamp" style, retaining secondary catalytic converters while keeping emissions compliant, which on the downside, retains a slight bit more overall weight when clamped to the remaining part of the OEM system. Unfortunately, we were unable to get a total weight before installation . Just as a comparison: Akrapovic Exhaust Weights Slip-On Section/Silencer: 29.5lbs Connecting Pipe: 14.0lbs Combined Weight: 43.5lbs (25.5lb weight savings over OEM) Exhaust Components Installation Completed One can't argue with the beauty and sound of this system. Enjoy!

Great write-up, thanks! I'd love to hear the M-Performance exhaust in person, but if the video below is any indication, it sounds fantastic.

I am loving the sound of mine . I've now had it for over 2000 miles and the sound keeps getting better.
I went for the Ti tips, so I posted some pictures as a comparison to the CF tips on the the same SS/CF diffuser background for those undecided

I believe it is closer to 18lb as stated in the BMW brochure (8kg). If you read the OP carefully, they did not add back the weight of the clamps and secondary cats that have to stay on the car.

Honestly, this is an exhaust in which I can't decide upon which is best - Titanium or Carbon tips?
