Information on OE/aftermarket carbon interior

I just put a deposit on a pretty clean 2015 M4 for sale with 30k on the odometer. The main concern I have with the car is that it seems to have a lot of aftermarket carbon trim (ironically it isn't optioned with the CF roof).

The shift knob trim and the knob itself look like they might be factory? Are they?

The rest of the trim isn't, correct? Does anyone know where it is from?

Would it be easy to replace with OE?

Are there buyers on here for carbon trim like this?

These look like stickers. Have you tried slowely pealing them up? Some goo gone after may help and bring you back to an OE look. You can try the one on the light switch first. This could help avoid getting new trim pieces. Just realized you don’t have it yet, ask the dealer to remove the stickers they might be able to.

Ooooh, that looks a bit cheap and cheerful. Deffo looks like someone went on an ebay spending spree. You should be able to peel it away and then clean off any sticky residue.

On the main picture you can clearly see the carbon look stickers vs. the real carbon via the colour difference.

Your shift knob and trim plate look to be true carbon. BMW m performance does make them but so do a lot of other companies. If you decided to revert back to oem I’m sure someone would buy them.

That stuff would make me look twice at how the rest of the car was taken care of. Maybe they just had poor taste…

Maybe. Just when I see cheap quality parts on cars, it makes me wonder what else they cheaped out on? Stretched their maintenance intervals? Skipped some expensive stuff? Cheaper out on parts and consumables?

Cheap stuff just throws a red flag for me about the kind of owner the previous person was. Like I said, they could have just had bad taste, maybe they were great with maintenance and spent all the money there. Who knows.

They're all cheap sticker overlays.

If you want real CF for a lot of those parts I'd recommend Dinmann, Autoteknik, and just getting M Performance oem parts.
