Hey, I'm holding onto my F8X for the time being (...and I barely drive it as it is). Not because I hate the G8X's design elements, but because I'm focused on my race bikes right now. I've received offers to sell the F8X, but I've declined them thus far.

This doesn't have to do with anything but the revealed Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is a Audi RS6 in EV form. lol

Poor Audi.

Poor Audi.
They are the same company. The RS6, RS7, RSQ8, Panamara Sport Turismo and the Urus are essentially all the same car, just a different flavor of it (all four doors with a tailgate). Same for the Audi eTron GT, it's a rebranded Taycan. It's only a question of time before we get an eTron GT Avant IMO. I see the RS6 as the last hurray to ICE RS cars before the switch to EV.

No experience, but has to be the most overpriced performance auto in the world right now. Avg list price of like 250k, 130k more than an X6 M!? Must pay dividends at the club.

Must be. The idea of a $250k SUV driving experience is laughable.

People must really want the badge on a SUV I guess, it sells well enough.

On the topic of laughable, a 250k SUV driving experience is not as bad as these ones however

Well uh... met the AMG G-Wagon because the new one with markup is basically at $250k.

I stumbled upon Matt Farah's review of the 440 xdrive (not sure how I missed it). Relative to RugbyBro's beautiful picture of all the past generation Ms, it's important to also reflect on where BMW is right now as a car company, not just because this iteration looks jarring.

Some of his impressions:
"This was the ultimate driving machine like 10 years ago now it's like the ultimate machine for people that would rather do basically anything besides drive"

On the new grill design:
"I've never I haven't spoken to anybody in the last six months that thinks that actually looks good so you know whatever they were thinking they sure committed to it, but yuck it's a it's a heinous looking car.

I think you know just how it looks would keep me out of it. This thing could be the best driving car in the world but no thank you"

Helping a buddy on a search for an M3. He vacillates between 36, 46, 90. Basically he's in desperation mode and would take a good deal on anything.

G8X are now showing up and look like total monstrosities in the context of all these listings, no other way to put it.

Well, he can't really go wrong with any of them! Looking at each M3, there really is something for everyone.

I have a feeling this car market will crash once things get back to "normal" so there may be good deals to have as early as Q3/Q4 of this year if life is abel to resume by then. If we compare to Pre-COVID, which was a relative market high WITH normal living circumstances, M3s of all generations were just sitting around begging to be bought by anybody. The level of demand for sporty cars (like an M3) is quite perplexing but unsurprising. I guess in the most simple terms... too many people have too much time on their hands lol! I'd be lying if I said I didn't boredom shop for 981s as a form of escapism in the past year.

Yup, this about sums up my experience with the late F Chassis and G Chassis cars I've driven. I concede though that the insulation really started becoming noticeable with standard F-cars like F10/30/32, which I think is fine for that specific generation especially since the M models were/are still quite raw and unwieldy (well at least from comparing F30/32 to F80/82), so there is a natural balance there and appeal for enthusiast customers. I'm preaching to the choir here but even the simple use of a DCT really separates the M from the Non-M. Having owned a F32 and owning a F82, they are immensely different experiences - you can feel how mechanically different the two are (and see it as well, which is pretty cool having worked on both).

Maybe, but bargains are nowhere to be found right now. And I think G8X will only prompt previous gen hoarding and appreciation.

E36 market is crazy. Only 18 total listed on Cars.com and pricing for a good example is about in line with an F82 of equal mileage.

Agree with Harris, F8X is the performance bargain of the moment. M4 with reasonable mileage are in the mid-30's. Shell out 2.5x that for a G8X?? Why???
