Why? We've said all along that it would feature approximately same HP, but around 100 lb-ft more torque (in range of 395 lb-ft) than the current M3.

Doesn't mean a whole lot until someone dyno's it. Will this be a classic case of BMW under-reporting the HP numbers? You can bet on it!

Exactly what this site has been reporting all along.
I was always left scratching my head when guys would pull the 450HP number out of nowhere and say thats where it would be at. |

Obviously a $70k BMW M is not supposed to beat a $120k BMW M in straight line performance. Porsche does the same thing with the boxster/cayman and the 911

I like it since I'm hoping that these relative modest power numbers indicates two IMO much more important things:
1. The weight is in the lower range of the rumours. 2. Big effort has been spent on keeping throttle lag to a minimum. |
