I think one of the reasons the Essex BBK tolerates heat so much better than other brake solutions is that the instructions tell you to remove the brake shield altogether. I have at least four different cooling configurations I can try to see which works best: no shield, no shield and Porsche lower arm air deflectors, partial shield with RevoZport front scoops ducted to the center of the rotor, or a combination of the last two for maximum cooling. I’ve got temperature strips coming as well so I can gauge the maximum heat at the calipers. |

Hey Bud. I currently have the DS1.11 and I'm really happy with it. What are you running now? I'd like to know your feedback of the 3.12. Thanks.

I'm surprised you need any cooling at all with the AP kit, that's the whole reason I got my 9668 kit

Current stock calipers w PFC08, which get soft at Laguna, but not too bad at Buttonwillow (new track to me). DS1.11’s were out of stock when I ordered 08’s last winter. |

There was a set of 9668s for sale here that had seen several days at Laguna and the rotors were cracked to hell. Obviously no cooling was used. I’m trying to prevent pad liquification like I had two years ago. While I might not need it, it might make things last a bit longer. |

https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1366784&page=5 I got a chance to wring out my DTC-70s and Essex AP Racing 9660s today at Imola. I used a custom front cooling solution utilizing 3D-printed scoops and 2.5" CEET hose to the rotor backing plates. Absolutely ZERO issues with the brakes, even when really standing on them with sticky AV08s. THESE are the brakes to have!!!!! I fully intended to install caliper temperature strips, but when it came time to depart I couldn't find them, so I ordered some more. Up next: Monza, the Temple of Speed, 3 November. |

I ran a couple 25-minute sessions at Monza yesterday and my brake cooling package for next year is set.
Front: AP Racing 9660 with Hawk DTC-70 pads, Yperion titanium shims, and 3D-printed scoops feeding the center of the rotors through 2.5” hose. Rear: Stock calipers with Ferodo DS2500 pads, Porsche 911 GT3 front scoops installed on the rear arms feeding air directly at the calipers, and a 2” hose scooping air under the spring for the side of the rotor. In hotter temps I think the piston dust boots might still be at risk, so I have Yperion shims for the rear as well (if they ever show up). I installed temperature strips on all four calipers and went bombing around Monza. Air temperatures were around 8 Celsius and the lowest brake temperature indicator (370 degrees Fahrenheit) didn’t even pop. We will see how well they cope next summer, but so far I’m feeling good. Brakes in action: If the weather cooperates I’m going to hit Mugello next weekend with no front cooling scoops to see how the brakes tolerate it. So far the forecast is calling for rain, though.
