Can anyone confirm that the Rennline mount will fit F83? According to ECS website, it will fit F82 but not F83.

Can there possibly be a difference?

EDIT: Ordered one...I'll let you know

It does fit F83, but as others reported, with full leather there is a gap behind the radio unit.

I just did this today for my Kuda mount. Have been using it with a flat Scosche magnet and metal plate in my phone case, but recently upgraded to an iPhone 11 and Pitaka carbon fiber case with built in magnets (very thin, allows magnetic mount AND Qi charging through the case). So here goes:

Original Kuda Mount with Scosche Magnet:

Pitaka Qi Charging Mount (taken off its ball mount):

Removed the old Scosche magnetic mount, did some drilling and dremeling:

Note from prior picture I needed to dremel down a bit to make more room for the power cable:

Pitaka Qi Charger held in by its screw mount (I added the red silicone garden hose washer for some resistance so I can rotate the charger relative to the Kuda mount if I want to but it is still very secure and won't rotate on its own):

The extra USB-C power cable is kept inside the empty space of the Kuda mount, but here is overall gist of how its wired, power from the switched 12V accessory port under the passenger's dashboard:

Final install with wire buried as much as I could, looks clean:

Works great! Doesn't look out of place, also like how the Pitaka CF pattern matches the stock CF trim (except matte vs. glossy):

Hope that helps someone, it is surprisingly much more secure than the Scosche magnet was holding the phone (wasn't a problem for the schoche though)....but for me a nice upgrade and only damaging to the Kuda mount and not the car. But looking at these pictures looks like time to dust and vacuum her out!

Here's my new frankenmount. Used the Rennline for a while and it's perfect, but I'm not running a case on my new phone (thus no metal plate) so I needed a different solution. I have Pro Clip mounts in all my other vehicles but their mounting location for the F80 is idiotic, so I mounted their phone holder to the Rennline ball base. Works perfect.

Wow. Great setup. Exactly what I was thinking about doing but using a traditional holder with the arms on the side. Either way, how easy is it to see from the drivers position and how convenient is it to reach?

Extremely Easy. Kuda mount is angles perfectly to glance down at the phone. Far enough away from the shifter that I never accidentally hit or knocked off the phone. Very easy to reach, tight-ish cockpit, don't even need to lean.

Does the wireless charging work pretty well? I have the Pitaka case but was hesitant on the charger.

Works great. Obviously a little slower than plugging it in, but more than adequate to run waze and pandora with the screen on all the time and still be able to charge...faster if screen off obviously, but convenience of just sticking the phone to the magnet can't be beat. Prior to this I used a lightning adapter and that older scosche magnetic mount and found I was too lazy to plug the phone in and would occasionally run my battery down regretting it later in the day...so this is way better than that.

Like the mount so much bought a couple Pitaka charging mounts for the house and phone (11 pro) charges up fully in 2-3 hours.

Try Apple web site, it fits the iphone & is a wi-charger, however, I forget the name but it is $85.00. There are not that many on their website so it should be easy to pick it out

After researching your (6Sp. - Like!) option... definitely !

That Pitaka (C.F. - Like!) charger has vents in the back. Being so closely mounted on the Kuda mount, has overheating cropped up as an issue??

Also, the voltage from that under glove box connection (w/ a USB adapter) is very low, Is it charging properly?

[Edit:]] And, do you have to use it with the Pitaka (skin) case, exclusively?

Cheers!

Hey - sorry I missed this post, didn't notify me for whatever reason. I had the same thought RE: the vents...the Pitaka charger vents still are uncovered behind it and it stays cool, I have a few around my house and this one does not get any warmer than any of those do, in fact it doesn't get very warm at all. For charging it does fine. Phone will charge up in it...granted Qi not as fast as plugging it in, and haven't timed my car vs one of the at home pitaka chargers to see which one might be quicker...it will add some juice to the phone despite screen on all the time waze and pandora running...that's good enough for me.

I'm not sure if other cases are out there that will work with pitaka. There can't be any metal plate where the Qi section is on the back of the phone so the pitaka case has parentheses of metal above and below the qi section leaving the charging section open. Maybe other Qi compatible cases will work, but their plates will have to be spaced similarly to pitaka for it to work. My android phone I use to run JBV1 for my Valentine 1 only has a single metal plate mount and it does not stick well - because to get proper attachment both the upper and lower magnets need to be engaged. I've been impressed with the Pitaka cases to be honest, extremely durable and definitely a woven fiber plus very thin which is a must for me.

Just got this installed
Wireless Qi and magnetic mount. Got tired of my other Scosche mount blocking my air vent. They just released this style not that long ago.

Works well. Secure and quick charging.

It’s a very thin piece of adhesive. Has held up well in the 110+ interior temps

Wow! That must be some heavy duty adhesive to carry, at that angle, the weight!?!
