f80 oil drain plug
hi guys, i am about to do my own oil change at 6000 miles. I am wondering if the oil drain plug needs to be changed as well or no? Thanks guys!

No, only the early M's with the Magnesium oil pan needed to have the plug changed out each time. You do need to change out the gasket though. It is part #5 here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=11_5919

Correct, they went away from the Mag oil pans pretty early on. Honestly, you are better off for it. Magnesium is very tricky to work with and can cause serious corrosion issues with other metals. There is also the whole "likes to burn hotter than the fires of hell" aspect of the material.
