That's a good point, M4 is definitely out. Not sure how long the M2's doors are.

Thanks man!

Hmm, weird, when I type in 'bmw m2 competition exterior dimensions' in google I get that it's 73 inches wide (.9 inches wider than M3) - where is this 78.3" dimension coming from now? I'm getting worried now.

I've looked into M2 and M2 competition and they are amazing cars too, the M2 comp. coming with the same S55 engine as M3/4's now and all just slightly detuned but I still kind of like M3 a bit more. I'll be getting it for a long therm daily and I believe the M3 would be just want I need/want/can afford.

78.3" is M2's width including extended mirrors, which is 2" narrower than M3's. Its hip width (73") is also narrower than M3's (73.9").

O, OK, thanks, I think I got it now, so 73.9 inch width for the f80 M3 is with the mirrors folded up, right? There's a chance for me then, he he.

Apexit here on the thread is going to stop by my place on Friday evening so we could check it all out in person - that's really awesome. You guys are a great bunch of people, helping out a noob here and all. Thanks again all, fingers crossed for Friday then.

And by the way, I'm on page 57 out of 146 in that great thread 'What did you learn or discover about your M3/M4 today?' - soooo much information there to learn so I don't ask stupid questions when they were answered there already.

Luis (apexit) stopped by on Friday and he was able to park his M3 in my garage no problem - thanks sooo much man, I really really appreciate it! At least now I can start planning on how to get into one of these awesome cars. Thanks all of you for all the help and info.

The car fits, but can you even get out of it? From the picture looks like the only entrance/exit is through a sunroof. The driver is still in the car in this pic so I'm not convinced haha

Ha ha, good eyes, yes that's true but he didn't go all the way to his right, there's at least another 8 inches of space for the whole car to shift toward the passenger/right side (left on the pic) and that's enough space for the driver to exit the car no sweat.

If need be I'll get one of those inflatable slides over the windshield and hood and I WILL get out the car via sunroof, that's how much I want an f80 M3, HA!

For getting in, well that's going to be a bit trickier but I'll have to make a hole on the roof of the garage and lower myself down through it via pole and through the sunroof. :-)
