RB Brake Kit w/Brembo Calipers for BMW F80 M3/M4 under 18" Wheels
We are pleased to announce this track duty brake kit is now available:
Calipers: Brembo OE gold 6 piston front Brembo OE gold 4 piston rear Rotors: RB two piece rotors - 374x36mm front vs. OE 380x30 RB two piece rotors - 370x26mm rear vs. OE 370x24 These rotors have the same rotor rings as our two piece rotors for 740/750/550GT, readily available and they can comfortably fit under 18" wheels which are most desirable by track racers for the tire availability. Adaptors are being made available by our local shop here in Anaheim here is the 3D design. Kit Price? you can figure this out yourself. Price of calipers - You know better than us, in fact I believe some members might already have them, and for those who have CCB brakes - Simply switch OE to RB adaptors and you are done. Price of rotors will be very similar to those two piece rotors we offer for 7 series: http://www.racingbrake.com/RB-Iron-R...bmw-irk-12.htm Brembo Calipers - Stock (M3/M4) Brake pads - Stock (M3/M4), or aftermarket. Rotors - RB 2pc with rotor rings shareable with 740/750 It's not hard for you to realize the benefit and flexibility of running a brake kit with such a strong combination yet still can keep the kit within "stock" configuration, and you can save lots of money and hassle down the road than installing other aftermarket brake kits. We also offer brake pads for OE calipers in 3 level of compounds: XT910 - Performance streetAnother innovative brake upgrade proudly presented by RacingBrake. This would be the most valuable track duty brake kit ever been offered, and we expect to start shipping them by end of April. Last edited by racingbrake; 04-23-2016 at 07:23 PM.. |

Brake pad size
Front:
Rear: Compare the brake pad size to standard brake (blue 4/2 calipers) and other aftermarket brake kits and realize how beefy they are - A true track duty iron horse. Front is the same as M5 standard iron brake, the rear is the same as Nissan GTR rear and Brembo GT/F40 front/rear brake kits. These are standard FMSI* pads - Not a special aftermarket caliper pads, very easy to find replacement for different compounds at low cost than non-FMSI pads. *Friction Materials Standards Institute Madison, CT. You are basically swapping the original blue 4/2 pot to gold 6/4 pot calipers just like upgrading to other aftermarket brake kits. In other words, it shall not relate to CCB system.
For your information, here is the piston size and front/rear area ratio: CCB (gold) brake calipers: Front 6 pistons: 30/34/36mm = 52.7 cm^2 (68%)Iron (blue) brake calipers: Front 4 pistons: 40/40mm = 50.3 cm^2 (67%)Total piston area and F/R ratio are almost identical on both set up, so we see no reason to be even concerned on brake bias due to this upgrade, while it might be worthwhile for you to check aftermarket brake kits that you are considering before you purchase. I see one problem with this, the calipers must be removed to effect pad changes. That is extra hassle to go from street pads to track pads and vice versa.

We've been using that RB 'progressive/incremental' kit on our M4 race car since the 2016 season and they've worked great. And it's very clever in the amount of flexibility you have as far as being able to upgrade one component of the system at a time.
RB rotors using the OEM calipers on our M4: The really neat thing is that later, we were able to upgrade to their 6 pot caliper while keeping the same rotors.

I posted some that we've taken on our M4 race car on our build thread. You do have to be selective. With the OEM calipers, we were able to get the Apex Race Parts 18" EC-7 wheel over them, but not the ARC-8's. So you need an 18" wheel with good barrel clearance, but there are a number of the out there. I can look for better pictures, but we raced at Sonoma and Laguna Seca in 2016 with RB rotors and OEM calipers inside 18" Apex EC-7 wheels

There are plenty of other kits that use non-OEM components where you can effect pad changes through the bridge area.

Yeah, even going back to our 135i in 2008 with the Brembo sourced front calipers, they were like that. Not sure why BMW spec'd them that way to Brembo.

racingbrake I assume you guys have calipers that fit the OEM rotors as well then? Is that an available option for someone that wants to retain OEM iron rotors and get larger 6 /4 piston calipers?

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1486758 We've race on RB 6 pot calipers over OEM rotors - which fit inside 18" wheels.

Calipers (6/4) upgrade using stock one piece rotors which the front RB caliper kit #2384 (380x34) is compatible with OE rotors (380x30), but the rear is #2526 (380x28) same as CCM conversion, but not OE iron's 370x26 which they only have stock replacement but the adaptor can be made available so the stock 1pc rotor can use their 4 pot calipers. https://www.racingbrake.com/RB-Two-p...bmw-irk-13.htm
