15,000 is a decent amount but yea shouldn't crack in the first place. No blueing of the exhaust anywhere?? Not pushing too hard?? They should fix it if your the only owner of exhaust and bmw installed it. The rattling for sure is annoying, mine was rattling from an exhaust mount but once tightened no rattle. For the rattle to be that crack the whole piece would have to be cut off so it moves to something to hit. Rattle must be something else, cf tips, exhaust mount like mine maybe??

Had mine replaced 2x now. I think it depends a lot on how you drive. If you pussyfoot all over town, will probably never have a problem. If you drive it like you stole it (the way an M should be driven)... well keep your installation paperwork handy.

Had issues with one of the exhaust valves being shot after 20k miles. I thought it was a crack at first but couldn't find anything. Replaced under warranty. $5k out of warranty repair? No thanks.

I recently purchased a used MPE for my M4. All was great till last week. Now it is making a god awful rattling noise on the cold start. I took it to a muffler shop and they would not touch it because it is Titanium. I live in the SF bay area does anyone know who could fix it? In addition the tips shake like hell on cold start, is this normal. Any advice would be appreciated.

If your MPE is cracked you will hear it when car is started going through its Cat heating mode, sounds like vibration against the heat shield and will stop after the start up cycle.
Am on my second one after the first cracked at 7k miles, this one has done 5k miles with no probs, it has the brackets on the pipes going into the muffler.
You will never get stainless to weld and marry successfully, as titanium heats and cools very quickly.
Its a shame, the sound is excellent under full load .

On the muffler you'll see the numbers. 01 means version 1.

Ok what about years? Do you know when version 2 come out? Mine came on the car MY 2016. Either way mine works perfect and I love the sound!

My MPE was not an add on it was spec'd with the car. So if I have any issues with it from now till March 31st next year should be able to get it relaxed under warranty. I love my exhaust. I hope nothing happens to it. But, ok rattle I'll listen for that at cold start. So other then that the cracking? Is that a direct result from the rattle or separate issue?

I'm going to make a list of the things to go over in detail when I take my car into the dealer hopefully this week and I'll report back

That's most likely the old one that will crack. I had a 2016 F80 with optioned MPE that cracked. They replaced it for free. Ask your SA what the warranty on the MPE is, because there is a chance it will
extend beyond your car's since it's a defective part with known issues.

The newer MPE's come with extra titanium bracing to prevent cracking. You can also have a titanium welding shop do this for you.

i dont get why people defend BMW as if its their buddy...the exhaust cracks period. my remus right most exhaust tip looks like my balls on a summer day. for me to say oh remus exhaust tips are straight as a whistle is BS. BMW aint going to recall shit on a performance part. they crack period. should that stop you from buying one; if the price is right, probably not.

also this seems like a place where most people who spend 5k on an exhaust would congregate.

the exhaust prices on this car have been total robbery. but i like others bit the bullet to try to make this thing sound presentable.

second hand they will deny your claim and show you the door. don't forget to grab your free donuts and coffee on the way out!

My car 42k mikes and the exhaust looks brand new underneath no cracks on either side of muffler m.

Someone mentioned the middle weld comes loose and that is what rattles? Correct me if I'm. Wrong.

I'll mention to my SA but so far so good the sound was so loud I thought the car was straight piped lol I can imagine when I put down pipes.

How hard are those 42k miles? Any track days? Lots of canyon runs etc? Lowered? Mine was lowered and the roads aren't great here in Los Angeles. Lots of canyon runs and some track days so lots of vibrations etc. Do you always drive with the flaps open?

This is the same crap repeating on the F8x platform.
My v1 on my E92 M3 had no crack and I drove it for about 30k miles.
Not all of them crack but I do think having no cats amplifies the prone to cracking.
