Why does it seem that going full e85 will spin the crank hub more than not on e85? A lot of the failures that I've seen seems to have the common thread of e85 involved.

E85 = higher octane fuel = higher power.. the chance of spinning is greater with the higher power

Hey there guys!

As already mentioned by a few individuals on this forum, Maximum PSI has discontinued the sales of their two piece keyed crank hub. The main reason for Maximum PSI discontinuing the crank hub was increased production costs and overseas companies copying the design and undercutting Maximum PSI's prices. It got to the point where Mike, owner of Maximum PSI, decided that profit to effort ratio was no longer valuable enough for them to continue offering the product (just one of the many the difficult decisions business owners are expected to make).

However, the two piece crank hub can still be purchased on SSR Performance's website. Here is why...

Due to the fact that I have had a close business relationship with Mike over at Maximum PSI since years ago, Mike was kind enough to pass over the information so that we can continue to offer this solution direct from the manufacturing facility that Maximum PSI was working with to produce these.

Mike's unselfish act has allowed for this solution to still be offered to the end consumer through outlets like us.

With full consent from the owners of Maximum PSI we still offer the same exact solution on our website and it will continue to be available for purchase ONLY while supplies last or until any further notice is given.

Two Piece Crank Hub Product Link: https://www.ssrperformance.com/produ...f7d53917&_ss=r

It is the exact solution that is highlighted in this video:

If you have any questions or would like to chat additionally on this subject, please feel free to give me a call at (800) 438-2808 and I will be more than happy to chat.

Ever heard of reading what you actually want to read.

And not reading what you do not.

Genius.

What about the bracket options that screw in like the Turner option as opposed to replacing the entire hub. Do those not work?

Nice writeup

I think I'll avoid the S55 line. That's my "fix". There's no way I'd ever want to attempt something like this. Will there ever be a 6-cyl ///M engine that doesn't blow up?

vanos, rod bearings, crank hub...

Well you have to pay to play.

But what an oversight on BMW's part.

Or maybe it's their way of keeping tuning in check.

Is it a real oversight? Somewhere I read once that they've made this to be the weakest link as sort of a "fuse" as to protect other more expensive engine components... any truth to this?

There is always a weak link of sorts.

It's nice they have a great fix accordingly.

The S55 is a great engine and Nita wide spread issue I the crank hi. Failures or we would have heard a recall like the transmission failure from harness for the m5s. What is the guarantee the max psi version won't fail either? I heard they are no longer selling this due to manufacturing issues?
