UPDATE: Swapped out the "after" pics, which were taken immediately after install, and replaced them with some final pics taken after alignment and ~200 miles of driving.
I got around to installing the Eibach v1's (fronts only, for now) on the car Thursday evening. It took me and a buddy just over 2 hours from start to finish. And this was taking my sweet time, being extra diligent/cautious with every part of the install. In fact, the only time I really had to enlist his help was when I had him jack the control arm up, as I was guiding the top of the strut back through the top hat to get the spindle nut back on. This part could also be done solo, if you really wanted to. But it was great having a second set of eyes to double check things. Overall, this was quite an easy install and I cannot believe the ridiculous quotes shops were giving me for it. Anyway, below are some before/afters. I took it into the BMW dealer for an alignment Friday afternoon and had the tech quickly inspect my install work. He said everything looked great. So she's good to go now! I'll get some better non-garage pics soon. Thanks for pushing me to tackle this myself, guys! After nearly 3 months and a ton of back and forth with the county (they somehow lost/misplaced my paperwork twice), I finally got my car registered and was able to get my plates installed. The springs are fully settled now, as well. So I got her washed up and snapped a pic.
In addition, my wife finished her medical residency and just completed her written board exam. To celebrate, we got her a brand new CX-5 Signature. We cross shopped it against the Audi Q5, Lexus RX, Volvo XC60 and Acura MDX. In the end the CX-5 won out in terms of creature comforts and overall value. She's never been one to care about cars, so it's really nice to see her get excited about this one.

Thanks! It's not Colorado issue. You can order Euro style plates for nearly any state from customeuropeanplates.com.
They are made of aluminum and look/feel just like a US state issued plate. They are just shaped in Euro style, rather than the typical US style. I imagine some states may give you a ticket for it since it's not state issue. But Colorado is pretty lax about it. They just want you to have some sort of plate on the front so the tolls/police can read the plate number on the fly. I'm not sure I see where you're coming from. The ExtremeContact Sports are an excellent rated high performance tire for the street. They've been great! Perhaps you're talking about the OEM Conti's that came on the car? If so, then I agree. Those are now collecting dust in my basement. Thanks!

Minor update...
This is not going to be everyone's 'cup of tea', but I ordered some of these front rock guards from Tommy L Garage. Now I can drive down the dirt roads around here without cringing every time I hear a rock fly up and hit the bottom of my side mirrors, doors and rear fenders. For those who may be interested, here's Tom's video explaining them in more detail:

Its def. needed up where you are at. Especially during the winter when all that Rock salt is laid out. Tommy makes some good content. I watched Tommy's video on taking delivery of this M3, got me motivated on picking my M3 from Minnesota and drove it 26 hours back to South Florida.

The M3 has full clear bra on the rear fenders but I still love this added protection. I'm a fan of Tommy's videos. Thanks to him I have everything I need for my upcoming brake fluid flush. Going to use his guide video to get through it too. I've only been here a short while and I can already tell he's a big contributor to this forum. |

Decided to play hooky on client work and went on a nice morning cruise with a buddy this morning. Just a couple quick shots I took. He used his DSLR so should have some MUCH better pics to share soon.

Last week I decided to order some of these CF front splitters to help bring that CF look from the roof down to the front of the car. They came in earlier this week and I promptly got them installed. I'm very pleased with the overall quality and fit of these. Highly recommend them.
Also, my neighbor (who owns the white Mustang GT350r in the pics) convinced me to go to the local Cars & Coffee with him this morning. That's not something I'd normally do but I must admit that it was a great time with some amazing cars. It also gave me an excuse to clean the hell out of the car, inside and out. Here's a couple shots I got of mine and 1 of a beautiful M4 GTS I saw.

My buddy finally got around to sharing his pictures from our cruise back in August...
I also took the plunge into doing my first brake fluid flush (and an oil change). The brake fluid flush was a breeze with help from the Motive pressure bleeder and another great tutorial from Tommy L Garage (Youtube Link). I've got to say, coming into this car I was under the impression that doing maintenance and part installs myself would be more difficult than my previous Audi's and Subaru's. That has not been the case with anything I've done, so far.

Beautiful car! I was just at the Chapel back in May when I was visiting some family. Took my uncle's Ford GT's out for a drive since the weather was perfect
I can second how awesome Tommy's guards are too. I have them on my car and they stop so much crap from flying up into the paint. I love them.

I got just the fronts but I don't have snow/salt/rocks to deal with down in Houston.

I figured I should update this thread since making a few minor tweaks to the car.
Some WeatherTech front/rear floor mats since she's driven all year and in nearly all conditions... Rennline magnetic phone mount (LINK) Ambient light strips to help accent the built in LEDs on the front and rear doors (LINK): Not pictured: - Square set of 265/35/19 Pirelli Sottozero Serie II winter tires. I really wanted some Alpin PA4's or PA5's but I checked around everywhere and they were completely sold out in the proper sizing for the season. So these will do for this winter. - Bimmercode to personalize the car a bit more to my liking. Including automatically folding the mirrors when the car is locked, disabled all tones/notifications when first getting in the car, disabled Active Sound in the cabin, disabled amber lights in the headlights etc. etc.

Very nice updates! I'm very interested in the ambient light strips - what is the installation like? The link says they change color with the factory menu so I imagine you have to take the door cards off to install?

Refer to this guy's install video (fast forward to time 2:50): Once installed, it looks factory and adds just the right amount of extra flair to the interior. In fact, adding these pushed me to go to "Classic" interior lighting setting as I love the red accents they provide.

Of course. For $61, I highly recommend giving it a try. I think you'll be pleased with the result.
On another note, I decided to let the mod bug continue to bite and ordered red M1/M2 buttons, as well as the red Start/Stop button, from IND (LINK). Should be here this week to add a little extra flare to the interior.
