Wow, this thread is still going a year later...

I'd still consider a affair with the QV if Alfa would allow us to have a MT...heck, I thought the North American market was the only one that gives a damn about MTs anymore (at least according to BMW), so what's up with that?

I've got other cars to drive and if I didn't think it was a long-term relationship, I could relax about reliability, etc. I think it would be fun...

C'mon Alfa...please?

You know what's the worse part about the Alfa, for me? The Fanboys !... Every comparison or video of the Alfa mentions how it's the "best car in the world" and the C63 and especially the M3, is garbage.

I6 DCT > V6 Auto. Also, the engine is not "Ferrari derived" just because it's Italian. It's like saying the VW Jetta has a "German derived" engine. Just because it's Italian does not mean it's Ferrari.

If a Hyundai is engineered by an ex-M engineer, it does not make that Hyundai an "M".

The Alfa is incredibly overrated and hyped up. End rant/
Ignorance must be bliss.

“The Quadrifoglio is powered by an all-aluminium, twin-turbocharged 90° V6 petrol engine, with a single-cylinder displacement of just under half a litre, for a total of 2,891 cc (176.4 cu in). This engine was developed exclusively for the Quadrifoglio by Ferrari technicians and it is related to Ferrari's own twin-turbo F154 V8, sharing the California T's bore of 86.5 mm (3.4 in) and stroke of  82.0 mm (3.2 in). It produces 505 horsepower at 6,500 rpm, and 600 N·m (440 lb·ft) of torque between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm. There are two turbochargers, both single-scroll IHI designs integrated into the manifold, with water-charge air coolers. It has side mounted direct fuel injection and its turbo boost pressure reaches up to 35 pounds per square inch (2.4 bar) at the peak.”

I remember when Seat had a "System Porsche" engine as well.

It joins a list of venerable vehicles such as the Chrysler PT Cruiser, Chevy Bolt, and Ford Probe. Congratulations on a job.....done.

Yesterday, the Alfa Romeo Giulia was named the 2018 Motor Trend Car of the year. Today it was named a Car & Driver 10 Best Car. Both magazines report no problems with their test cars whatsoever. Sounds familiar to my own and several friend’s Alfa ownership experience.

Kind of surprised to see that the BMW 3/4 Series is no longer a C&D 10 Best Car. Guess the Alfa knocked it off the yet pedestal again. Hope they can reclaim the old magic with the next gen 3/4 series now that serious competition has arrived.

They just don't seem to be selling and I think it has to do mostly with:

1. Leases aren't just bad but out of whack expensive. The base models are very cheap lease-wise so it seems they are subsidizing those but the QF is way too expensive of a lease for its price.

2. Its exterior is not aggressive enough imo. The shape isn't bad; it flows fine but it just doesn't have the road presence of the M3.

Congrats, the Guilia made the same list as the Accord, Miata, Civic, Camaro and etc. so it must be better than an F8X.

I wouldn't buy and don't have any desire whatsoever to own any of the cars in that top 10. These are Prius, Camry type guys doing these tests and evaluations on a completely different set of criterion than I use to evaluate what makes me happy.

Sounds like sour grapes to me, Bro. I suspect you’re just bitter since the 3/4 Series hasn’t made the list since 2014. Boo-hoo!

. . . You are one strange dude!

Apparently, I am super bummed and just don't know it because none of my cars are on the car and driver list. Maybe I will get lucky and be cool next year.

Unfortunately, and I say unfortunately because I don't wish bad on anyone, Guilia sales have really slumped the last couple of months and the Stelvios are a disaster.

Guilias monthly sales have slummed into the 700 or 600 range, but BMW continues to sale about 5,000 3 and 3,000 4 series. Consumers have spoken and continue to speak.

Over Thanksgiving, I spoke to good friends that run Gossett Motorcars (I have known the owner for years). They have the franchise, but have held off getting up and running and taking on any inventory due to horrible sales.

My wife's lot just sent about 1/3 of their Stelvios off lot because they had like 50, none were selling, they had no place to keep them and it looks super bad to have so many sitting there like that to people potentially interested in them.

I hope this Car and Driver and Motortrend stuff will help spur some sales activity over the holidays. They certainly need it.

Having competition is good whether the car appeals to a certain forum vs another forum. If BMW ruled the roost, everyone would be bitching about paying marked up prices above MSRP for their M cars. Can you imagine if an M car was awarded this award annually? Everyone and their grandma would be driving one and there wouldn't be anything special about owning an M3/M4.

Not sure where you live, but everyone and their grandmother do own an M3/M4 around here. They are way too common to feel special any more...yet another reason I bolted to Alfa.

The M3 was a great car for what it is, but lacking in a few key areas, and for me got kind of boring after a while, even after a serious bout of modding to differentiate it from the overflowing sea of other M3/M4s.

It is a solid car with a really great aftermarket parts network, but there are other competitive alternatives if you value more power, the ability to put it to the ground, sharper steering, a better ride, actual engine sounds, and more supportive/comfortable seats.

The next M3 will be much better because of Alfa’s presence in the market now. I will take a hard look at one at that time if I also tire of the Alfa. I tend to rotate cars every year or two if there is a better alternative to what I have. Definitely NOT anti-BMW at all, as I just bought an X3 for my girlfriend, and may get the new one as my winter vehicle too...if the dealers start dealing once inventory builds a bit.

Alfa sales rose 20% in November up from October level. It was also their highest sales figure ever in the U.S.

If your wife’s and friend’s dealers aren’t selling cars, they must not have mastered the art of salesmanship.

Let's put those numbers in perspective . . .

Gulilia sales in November were mid 700s so still about 30% less than 1,100 mid year numbers.

Sales are up from last month only because of the Stelvio which sold mid 600s up from low 430s last month. I cannot imagine 600s would be considered a success for the Stelvio or 700s would be a success for Guilias.

October was a horrible month with like 1,150 total sales for both the Gulia and Stelvio which barely matched Guilia sales in July.

I hope the Alfa Romeos pick up, but fact is my wife's company sales more Levantes and Bentaygas than Stelvios. They cannot keep Bentaygas in stock.
