The speakers sound great on the HK upgrade. And the subs have good SQ... but I was bummed about the spl. I need harder hitting bass and HK should've provided it. My 2012 335i subs hit pretty hard, and I was comparing my F82's HK vs my buddy's 2011 328i HK system and his subs definitely hit harder. But after the comparison I realized how much better the F82's overall sound quality is. But still.. I think the F82 can do with a hard hitting 12" in the back.

You should trust BavSound, but you should also ask the question "At which speed/engine mode/road conditions did they decide it sounded perfect at 0eq." I would assume windows up engine off or windows up at idle. Again, people drive differently and have different environmental factors to deal with. 0eq is not the end all be all perfect solution you're making it out to be. There are three reasons that no matter how high end a system may be it still allows the listener to mess with the EQ bands at all: speaker changes/upgrades, individual taste, and external environmental variability. External Environmental Variability is by far the biggest culprit when it comes to tuning a moving vehicles audio system. So great, your car sounds perfect at 0MPH with the windows up and the engine off. Mine is tuned to sound better at 70mph with 4 windows open in Sport+. . . and the Eq definitely isn't flat. I don't sit in my driveway with the car off listening to FLAC files very often.

It hasn't been fixed yet but we have concluded that the rattle is coming from the rear speaker covers / panels. It should go to the shop this week so I'll if they can fix it. If they do, I will find out exactly what they did and update here.

Not yet. Just got my windows tinted with the same guys that would do the subs.. and I got to listen to an e46 m3 they had with two 10s in the back. Sounded real good ;-) So now I'm deciding what to throw in there. But as soon as I put anything in the trunk I'll be posting pics for sure

Waiting is the hardest part. The M4 definitely needs an extra sub in the back... there's barely any low bass.. but until i get the system put in I'm gonna just listen to the awesome exhaust ;-)

hey guys, how can you tell if you have the HK system other than it stating so on the windows sticker? There doesnt seem to be any HK markings on the system or speakers to indicate that it's an HK system.
thanks |

Hey, I should be getting my car mid january. I havent seen anyone talk about the Harmon Kardon Souns system. How is it compared to over cars. I currently have a 328i and it pare.
Hey, getting my car delivered by mid Febuary. I was just wondering what do you guys think go the Harmon Kardon speakers. What do your rate them 1-10. Any comments on sound quality over a stock 3 series. I currently drive a 328i and the sound system isnt that serious. |

Can't comment on the 3 series, but can say this. I came from an e92 M3 from 2008 that had the HK speaker upgrade. I personally feel that version was slightly better with cleaner audio and better bass. Not to the point I am feeling like I need to rush out and pick up the BAV upgrade, but to the point where I do notice some music just not sounding as clean. One thing I will add, with the new F80 you have ASD and when I removed that through coding, I noticed a bit better audio personally. Also, you will want to adjust the EQ based on recommendations to get better sound as well. Enjoy your new car in Feb. Plenty of good things to look forward to!
