HUD Software level number?

I've been on to my dealer about the software update for the HUD and apparently they are not aware of any update and they are asking me for a "software level number" from those who have had this installed??

Does anyone have this info that I can pass on to them?

Isn't it a bit odd that a dealer doesn't know or can't look it up?

I completely agree!

I'm getting very disillusioned with the level of service from my local dealer at the moment.

How many miles do you have on your M3? My dealer is telling me my HUD will change after my 1200 miles service. Not sure if that's correct or not.

The software update apparently changes the REV colour on the HUD from a grey to a blue thus making it easier to see, I've still got the grey colour.

4500 miles and it's been this way from the beginning!

Thanks...

They are probably referring to the I-Step level. I used I-Step F020-15-07-503 to update my HUD. Anything newer than this will do as well.

Thanks for this timely info...my car is in for service today too, and they are checking into the update based upon me providing this number as well. Hopefully they will be able to make it happen! My dealer is good...so far, always good service with several BMWs I have owned.

You are lucky to have an understanding dealer. Several other owners have reported being charged by the dealer for this update.

To be fair, I did not try asking my dealer: I just wanted to learn how to do it myself.

So just back from the dealer...they just moved into a new building, so many of their systems are updating. They did not have the software today, but should have it in a couple of weeks. My SA is really good and is going to call me when he has it to download to my car. I did get an oil change though! I'll report back when I have the update...

It is amazing how people around here get software updates before dealers.

Many thanks to tom@eas and dmnc02 for the information regarding the HUD software level number I've been after.

Apparently, accordingly to my UK dealer the software number I've passed on to them is not recognised here!

If there is any UK M3/M4 owner who has had their HUD software updated recently to the new colours could they contact me via PM with more details please.

I gave my dealer the above I step info today during my break in service. They originally told me they didn't usually do software updates like this unless it was to fix something. But, I was very thankful when they called me and told me they decided to go ahead and update it for me! That software update definitely is the fix!
