I'd say this could indeed be a ZCP test vehicle. At the very least it tells us they are testing something new with no exterior changes (wheels can always change for production). And, I'll point out that it has the Werkstestwagen sticker, just like I figured it would.
You search Google with the image and it will populate everything related to that picture. I hit the right click, search for image on Google...

Which is how I found the link.

so the comp pkg is 2016 and not 2017 models? interesting, I heard from a BMWNA source it was 2017 for comp pkg. I guess we will have to tune in this week!

Well if I am correct with American market introductions. This car not introduced to the market around September would be a 2017 no?

The 3er LCi is launched in May and on sale in July.

production this sept would be a 2016 models (M3/M4) with productions of 2016's starting July. However if your are saying this is just a display this September and not a actual release then yes it could be a 2017 model if its technically released sometime next year (2016). Is that what your stating? Sorry If I'm miss reading your question.

Either way Im excited to see what info is released this week like you are saying

Subscribed... but not for MINI info

Just to be clear... are we talking M3/4 competition package cars being introduced and in production some time in 2015 (2016 MY) or some time in 2016 (2017 MY)?

Just a theory here, but if we look at the timing from announcement to availability of the Competition Package with the M5/M6, we can extrapolate what might happen with the M3/4.

In May 2013, BMW announced at the M festival that the ZCP would be available for the M5 and M6 as of July for MY2014 (source: M5 / M6 ZCP Announcement).

Scott has already mentioned in this thread and others that the competition package is coming to the M3/4. In addition, the LCI M3 will be revealed at the M festival in May therefore, if, I repeat, IF, they also announce ZCP for the F8x at the same time, it could very well be available to order in July for MY2016

Of course, this is pure speculation and partially wishful thinking but I'm feeling cautiously optimistic ZCP will be available for MY2016

based off Scotts post of it being produced in September then it would be a 2016 model (if I read his post correctly) Either way seems like such a odd move to continue to do that, really kind of stabs the first year buyers. Now I always state you can never keep up and there is always something new on the horizon but to continue to practice the same timeline seems very quick IMO and not necessary but they are a lot smarter then me and know exactly what they are doing so we will just have to go along for the ride. I know that I love my 2015 non comp pkg so I personally wont be upset unless its something like a drastic power bump.

I highly suspect the urgency has been created by another car's successful introduction... the C63S. If that car wasn't being so well received, I bet BMW would defer longer. Maybe that is not the reason at all but I expect BMW doesn't want to lose any more comparisons and reputation in the market than they absolutely need to.

My CA keeps hearing 2017 too but I guess like you said things can change.

FWIW he did tell me last night that he heard round 2 of M Perf parts will include springs, Carbon Ceramics, and interior trim options. Have you heard anything about that GOLFFRR?

starting in July production begins on 2016 models. 2017 models wont start production till sometime next year. So thats why I am confused by what Scott stated when he refers the changes to a 2017 model. But I'm sure more light will be shed as time goes on this week based off the previous post.

as far as the parts go there might be but as much as I hate to admit it I don't really research or seek out info on parts as much as I should.

no doubt, holding the benchmark title is a tough thing to maintain with so much comp. out there

Hello Scott, could you help us clear up the confusion regarding launch schedules? My understanding is that MY 2017 would mean May-July 2016 ZCP ordering?

I also think with the ATS-V putting down 464hp stock, BMW doesn't want the M3/4 loosing the inevitable 3 way magazine comparos, this spring, in the acceleration department.

I doubt the M3 will lose.. the 425hp is a made up number, the F80x motor is a bit stronger than the official ratings.

Something tells me that the M3 isn't going to lose in the the numbers department.

How about BMW just brings out an update for the M3/4 that gives a 30hp bump?

I don't really think the performance pack will be about numbers. I think it will be about feel and dynamics. That's were I think the M2 could have an advantage. But I guess we will have wait and see.

I agree... but I do think there will be some power boost too. It's just too easy with this engine. However, I don't feel it is really necessary other than bragging rights. I would personally like to see suspension tweaks, wider wheels and tires (aka more grip) and a revised MDM mode. Anything to make the car better on the track and, IMO only, more power isn't the issue.

This is exactly what i would like to see as well as i plan on ordering a 16' and hope there is a ZCP pack available. Perhaps the only other addition to the ZCP i would like to see is the option of alcantara interior and steering wheel (i know its available through M performance parts) as standard.
