Is it a good value though? Get H&R Super Sports (249/Lowers between 1.75-2.3 inches). ESS E-Tronic ($900 for 75 HP "Claimed of course") and IMHO the Comp package M5 exhaust sounds minutely different from the non comp M5, so if you needed a little more sound get Akra DPs for 1K. That's around 2K and based on the M5 competition package you'll be paying $7,300 or 5,300 more. Mod your car and skip the competition package your can get more for less. My humble opinion.

I know it's hard to believe, especially based on the readership of this forum, but the great majority of M3/M4 buyers aren't interested in tinkering/modding the factory stock setup. Most don't have the knowledge, time, or desire, and think it's kind of a waste of money anyway.

For many, the ZCP-Competition Package is sort of a way to "mod" your car by having the BMW factory do it for you!

Out of all the M3/M4 I know of in GA at least 75% of them are modded to some degree. So I'm not sure your 'great majority' is right.

How many are those? About ~10 M3/M4 out of thousand of sales a year in the USA? So about 7 M3/M4?

Why do you think that the M Performance accessories are selling thru the roof in the whole USA, and an impressive amount of these parts ordered with the car and installed at the port of entry?

I considering M Performance to be a mod 'to some degree'. So I was counting those.

My car is 90% M Perf mods, wheels, and lowering but I consider it pretty highly modified.

M Performance parts are factory upgrades, which support what the other forum member posted about "a great majority of customers" not interested in tinkering/modding the factory stock setup.

To be honest, I thought that the M3/M3 M Performance accessories were going to be a failure considering the vast aftermarket ///M market out there. But I'm really surprised with their sales and acceptance.

I totally agree and I as well like to keep my car under warranty so I tend to stay away from Piggybacks and etc. However if you got suspension parts, wheels, exhaust, or any other aftermarket part that doesn't effect your warranty, your only 15hp (In the M5/M6 case) behind the CP vehicles. 15 HP is minuscule in the grand scheme of things, I believe that if I had a 1/4 tank of gas and you have 15hp more and a full tank of gas, I would beat you. It's not enough to really feel or see the difference, I believe that in the M5 it was about a .1 second difference. In a stop light drag race, its not going to matter who has the 15 more hp it's whoever reacts quicker, and on the track, whoever is the better driver. Like I said IMO its not worth it but with that being said to each his own.

A competition package is for sure coming soon. The Competition Package Exhaust tips are readily available, and is documented in our local dealership's parts department as "Black Chrome ZCP Tips" Part # 18107853892

When you say "soon". Are you thinking within weeks, months, or MY17?

My guess is it'll be announced Q2 2016 and released for late MY16/early MY17... But this is just my guess!

I think the quality of the BMW Performance parts (esp the CF ones) are higher than the aftermarket equivalent and ppl prefer the backing of the factory to the aftermarket IMO. I think thats why they've done so well.

It will be available on all M3/M4s. Yes, even on the convertible this time.

Still wondering if there will be a HP bump and if it will be retrofittable

Hadn't even thought about that, but it makes sense given that BMW made it available for the M6 Convertible.

A HP bump is near certain. I'd be extremely shocked if there were no added HP at this point. DIY retrofit is likely to be possible too.

It was as a software update for the N54/55 so I don't see why not for the S55. About a +20hp/tq bump through the magic of a few lines of software.

My guess is that the CP release will coincide with the release of the M2 to maintain a performance differentiation between the two models. This should also happily coincide with the release of the M4 GTS.

Perhaps official M2 information may come as early as next month, but the car is not going into production until November 2015:

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=901686

And US production is rumored to trail behind that date by a few months.

In any case, don't expect exact synchronization between the release of the M2, M3/M4 ZCP, and M4 GTS. The point is, all are likely to come next year.

But this was just the M performance pack for the 335i right? Seems like there was never a power kit offered for the M5 or M6 after competition package? Curious why it would be different for the F8X? And was this something you could ask the dealer to do? Sounds very interesting.
