Looking for best sound under 5k
I have an F80 ZCP and I’m looking to get the best sound possible around 5k. I like loud so no issues there. Main thing is I want to retain warranty and not throw a CEL.

Be honest, i think the best set up is MPE since you dont wanna CEL so no downpipe. but MPE is not cheap to buy a new one.
i have the dinan rear muffler within resonator and secondary cat delete, bm3 tune, i think its sound good, flow goes through better, feels like there is no restriction in pipes |

My $.5 You don't buy an inline-6'ed car because you want it to sound like a V8. I certainly don't. In BMW M's own words, they wanted to give the F8X a "distinctive" and "dynamic" sound. They've certainly achieved that. It sounds like nothing else out there and you know it's an S55 coming from a mile away. All that aftermarket setups do is merely exacerbate... umm... enhance the stock noise. It'll remain - aurally - distinctly and dynamically an F8X car. I got the Remus + AA mid. I'm happy with it and won't change it. MPE is a non-starter. Sht build quality and one of the worst looking setups. Akrapovic was another legit consideration for me. It's the perfect sized exhaust tip for the OEM CF diffuser. Remus really does require a more visually aggressive setup. Good luck.

AA midpipe...if that doesnt do it for your...add in the remus axleback. car will always sound like a turbo diesel. exhaust do eliminate rasp and improve tone...my remus with aa is as loud as anyones car should be.

It Looks the best / sounds the best / warrantied by BMW / and ZERO Drone. I Had a remus exhaust, but the drone was absolutely unbearable on the highway.

Under 5k or 5k RPMs?
I know that some exhausts change tone pretty dramatically after that point... So clarification can help If you want something with a very bassy tone and very aggressive sound, there's FI, AWE, and Remus: If you want a clean sound that isn't too loud, Active Mid Pipe or Active with Remus are great solutions: All of the listed options are well under the 5k price range as well! If you need assistance dialing in the proper setup for your preference feel free to reach out, we install all products we sell |

Looking for best sound under 5k
Like others I'm running the Remus/AA midpipe combo and like it. No CELs to speak of but I'm also on stock down pipes.
Pros: It deepens the note nicely and takes away most of the raspy/buzzy sound (to my ears) that the stock exhaust has. Cons: There is still some of that midrange buzz but that's not going to be eliminated completely, at least not from the setups I've heard—it's a characteristic of this engine. The only other bothersome bit is the cold start but that's not Remus specific obviously. What exactly are you looking for in sound? You should definitely try to hear as many as you can in person to help you make your decision. Under 5k is a healthy budget, you should have no problems staying under that. As far as warranty is concerned—should you have an exhaust specific issue, that won't be covered as it's not OEM, but that shouldn't be surprising. The remainder of the vehicles warranty should remain intact. |

Loud is easy but, as Justin stated, you won't get the V8 sound. A lot of us came from the previous M3 which had a V8 and others have had American V8s specifically, so we get the sound your looking for. I do miss my V8 sound, the S55 won't get there unfortunately, IMO.

This is all I have of the set up Very easy now since the distributor changed from HRE. Since HRE was the Distributor and they are located in San Diego, holding the exhausts with no cats is a very risky business move. Getting caught by CARB can result in a $2,500 fine per cat |
