M4 Service Question

Hi all,

I use to take my car in for service every 6 months or so, however, I recently tried making an appointment for my local dealer after the vehicle not being serviced since 11/2018, and they stated they can't service it till 11/2019. My warranty ends in 12/2019, and up until the last service, it's always gone in every 6 months.

The dealer is under new ownership (I won't mention which dealer) and ever since then, it's been a really terrible experience dealing with them (mistakes made, forgotten appointments, reported my mileage 10k over which now shows on carfax etc).

So, just wanted to ask a few people here on what they think regarding the length of time for service? The car only has about 5k miles on it since the last service in 11/18.

What service did you get done every six months? Was this covered by your 4 year/50,000 mile maintenance agreement, or did you pay for any of it?

All recent model BMWs have Condition Based Service (CBS) wherein the car tells you when it needs service, including engine oil, front and rear brake pad service, and brake fluid.

That said, some people will change their oil at half-intervals, which is either 5,000 miles (instead of 10,000 miles) or a least once a year if you drive 5,00 miles or less per year.

I really don't see the need to service your car every six months if you're only driving 5,000 miles/year.

With only 5K per year, you only need to go in once a year (for an oil change) and waiting another 1 month won't make a difference.

Wasn't exactly every 6 months, but definitely twice a year. Think it was spark plug, oil changes, filters etc.

Typically my car of course tells me when I need service, I just wanted to make sure this wasn't a red flag with this amount of time going by.

Working on scheduling the service. But just wanted to see what I should look for in this next service since this is the last one before my warranty doesn't cover this.
