How long will these cars last?
If I get a F80, it will be my one and only car. Will be my daily driver, even though I usually take the bus for work. So how much of a life can I expect out of it if I drive around 15k km to 20k km per year? And if anythings breaks, I mean I can always just replace and repair or will it at some point, simply not be possible to do so?

these cars will live until they rust or get crashed. I'd say 20 years easy. however cost of repairs will start to haunt you at some point. My current BMW 3 series is 10 year old and has no issues (knock on wood). except for water pump once, nothing ever broke. So to me BMW is not expensive to keep. This generation of M3/4 seems to be solid but time will tell. Previous generations required special oil, short change intervals, etc. these cars use BMW standard oil and you need to change it every 10K. Also, I can assume most other fluids are lifetime. You can change them but it is optional unless you rape your car a lot. Note this is only an opinion as I have yet to get my M3 but at the same time I am sure the car wont be a money eater if you drive it normally.

I understand regarding regular maintenance, filters, liquid changes etc. I am ready to do full paint and engine maintenance. And even then, if rust starts I can always buy a new OEM car panel, right? |

You do not want to own this car without an extended warranty....
These cars are so much more involved then they were 5-10 years ago, I was listening to a podcast with Steve Dinan talking about the 6 computers in the intake tract and multiple sensors in the MAF. Then you consider the rear sunshades, parking cameras, sensors, dct, just to name a few things that can go wrong and cause serious $$

there are no extended warranty that covers the car after what 7 years? if anything is out there then 10 years is where you are on you own. about sensors, not a big deal. when e90 came out people were saying that BMW lost their mind not to have a dipstick - guess what I never heard of the oil sensor problem. Yes it is more prone to problems but the fact that you will encounter them until the car is really old is low. and when things break you replace them.

Too early to tell but agree with others, I would not want to keep this car out of warranty. The e9x has been one of the most reliable generations (which is why I decided to buy it) but with all the turbos and gadgets on the f8x, it's a whole different ball game. Time will tell though.

I'm dreading the day I have to replace the turbo. If I keep my F80 past 4 years I will absolutely pony up for an extended warranty. Anyone have a recommendation on a good one?

This is the biggest misconception out there. It's not to say don't take care of your car, but many will "take good care" of their car by staying on top of maintenance being as anal as possible and still have a ticking time-bomb at 60K+ miles.
You can take as much care of the car as you want. Still wont save the "6 computers in the intake tract" or "rear sunshades, parking cameras, sensors, dct" as mentioned above. |

Since it's a 2015 model year no one can know. It's likely it will last as well as most modern cars, the difference is the cost of parts and labour vs an economy car. It's a complex luxury car and a high performance car, both tends to raise costs significantly and owning old cars like these can be frustrating due to that costs of repairs easily grow bigger than the value of the car. 10-15 years or 150k miles should be fine, after that start praying...

It's a sad state of affairs when $80k+ cars become "disposable" after only 3-4 years. Conditioning consumers into constant churn that wastes resources up-and-downstream of the production cycle, including money.
I suspect many of those sensors are there to hit emissions standards. I wonder how much better off the global environment is then when all things are considered. M |

And well I would lease 3 or 4 years but it's around 70K . Why would I do that if I can own the car for 120K instead? |

Expensive is relative. Pay off your car in 4 years at $1,500/ month. You could trade it in on a new one and pay $900/ month on the second car loan after trade in or keep the first one and at the 8 year mark have ~$38,000 in the bank for repairs (what you did not pay on the second car loan).
My e90 M3 is 61/2 years old and I have saved about $20,000 on car payments for the new car I did not get when it went out of warranty and (knock on carbon fiber) I have only spent $350 to replace a tail-light LED assembly so far. |

why would the turbo go? Turbos don't die without catastrophic failure. they are made to last the life of the car.

But whatever, according to half the people on the forums it's a fact that BMW's are programmed to explode the second the warranty expires

BMWs do not explode after the warranty. I have had many and still have my E90 (with about 100 thousand miles on it and no major repairs).
I plan to keep my car for about 10 years which is typical for me. I may keep it longer. There is the possibility of a major repair but the expense of that is small compared to the thousands you save by not having car payments. This "explode when warranty expires" thing is way overplayed.
