YMB Cop Attention
Thinking of YMB or AW. Last M3 AW went pretty unnoticed by cops which was good. YMB looks like an awesome color, just don't want attention from cops. Anyone having issues in So Cal?

Idrive normal in public, then crazy with nobody in car or in sight, then it doesn't matter what color your car is.

I am getting the lead foot syndrome when these cops are lurking around VERY FREQUENTLY... I've already received my first speeding ticket for 80+ when I had like 600 miles.

You can get a bright orange Prius and still get attention from the cops. Its a matter how heavy your foot is when rollinh through the highway or streets.
Get what you want, if you can afford a M, im sure tickets here and there will be pocket change to you. |

From what I've seen, at least in Orange County, it seems like it's less about the COLOR of the car you drive and more about WHAT you drive. Of course these are only my personal experiences, so take them with a grain of salt. I personally like to think that I don't draw attention to myself. I don't race around where I know I shouldn't and if I ever do something that would be frowned upon it's always very quick and never for prolonged periods of time (or repeated over and over).
Car 1 - Focus ST - Black, Tinted Windows, Black Tailights (the actual "back" housing was black, not tinted), Modified Exhaust Pulled over 4 times (if I remember correctly) in the span of about 8 months. 1. No license plate (car was about a week old) (No Ticket) 2. Tinted windows (Ticket) 3. The car "looked modified" (No Ticket) 4. For tinted windows, no front plate, modified exterior lights (Ticket) Car 2 - BMW M235i Black, Tinted Windows, Catless downpipe, AWE non-resonated exhaust. 0 - Never pulled over, plenty of looks and "close calls" where I thought I was, but never bothered. Car 3 - BMW M3 - Mineral Grey, Tinted Windows, Catless Downpipes 0 - Never anything more than a glance

Had a CHP crane his neck around to look at my car at a stop light once. Other than that absolutely zero attention. And I like to drive with the valves open. And my windows are tinted. And I don't have a front plate.
It all comes down to how you drive. Drive like a dick and it doesn't matter what color your car is. Get the color you like.

Agree. The way you drive around town or on local roads makes all the difference on a regular basis. For highway driving, get the best Radar detector you can find and enjoy! No tickets in 11 years of M3 ownership. Do not ask me how fast I drive. I cannot put it in writing. As to that specific color attracting attention from cops on a regular basis? No issue here. YMB with 7,500 miles and no front plates (illegal in Illinois)! I get a lot of people taking pictures or videos while driving though...no alwarys safe... |

A good rule of thumb is don't be an ass. If you're not an ass then you have little to worry about. If, on the other hand, you are an ass prepare to be spanked a few times.

I've had my YMB for 20 months and drive conservatively in traffic with occasional WOT to 100MPH when there's a long straight way and no traffic. Never gotten a ticket. Cops will tend to catch anyone doing over 80MPH with their radar gun no matter what car he drives. Just be smart about your driving style and you should be fine.

AYM got me pulled over while I was being passed on one side by a black dodge charger, and Passed on the other side by a white Toyota Tundra. I was going 83, and not even paying attention (talking on the phone) I am thinking the blue will be like the AYM, it is bright, and different

Depends where you live and work. I went from an Estoril Blue F30 to a Mineral Grey F80 because the F30 was keyed in DTLA. Lesson learned, don't leave your car in an outside lot in LA and don't get a loud color if you occasionally have to drive through some sketch areas in the city. For me, I personally hate the attention and rather blend in. If I was still in my Irvine bubble, I'd have gone with SO or Yas.
Like others have said, I don't think cops discriminate based on vehicle colors. |

I was doing about 75 in a 65 when a CHP pulled on. I dropped it to 65 and he paced with me for about 5 exits until he gave up. I think the car itself is a bit of a magnet but wouldn't say the color matters (I have an Alpine White). In my gray, slightly more mundane S5 I honestly think I received less attention but maybe it's all in my head.
