This is the difference between DINAN and MPerformance HAS

I purchased both - a used DINAN set form a member here and a new MPerformance set from getbmwparts (best deal ever!)

Anyways - I wanted to compare the two. Ultimately I decided to go with MP for the following reasons:
1. MP springs are longer - which means softer ride I hope
2. MP has a helper spring in the rear - again - more compliant ride I hope
3. MP is way way way heavier than Dinan. Dinan components seem very light compared to MP. I don't know how it affects quality (if) but to me heavier means sturdier, which means better.
4. MP is a BMW-made component...which makes me feel a lot more comfortable.

MP is going in within the next few weeks - I'll follow-up with photos and review.

Oh and I already sold the DINAN set to those who are interested...

Photos below - MP up top, Dinan at bottom (every photo)

I love the way my car rides with the MP HAS. Add the CS EDC settings. It's very smooth, much more stable in corners, and much much easier to put power down on the exit. I've noticed I can definitely get on the throttle earlier in exit as well. All around, and coupled with the PS4S, probably the best money I've spent on the car.

Dinan advertises a 50% increase in front spring rates.

No thanks!

Love my MP HAS

I'm still lovin the MPHAS. Recently took the M down to northern California and it performed superbly through all the tight twisties.

I'm gonna be Mr Pedantic again.

MP HAS is actually made by KW.

It's actually a tender spring, not a helper spring and contributes to create a dual/variable spring rate -- which, as you said, makes for a more compliant ride quality.

Made by KW, to BMWs specs likely as a result of BMW R&D. Important distinction. Lots of manufacturers use OEMs. Dinan seems to have mailed it in.

The MP HAS rear is a helper spring. They are completely compressed at curb position and only serve to keep load on the spring at full extension so it doesn't rattle around. It does not serve any dual rate or ride compliance function.

Love the MP HAS...hate to be that guy but car should have come this way and wish I did it sooner. From looks only the front visually settled more than the rear and took about 2 weeks (did recommended BMW drop, front looked a little more gapped than the rear immediately following to what looks like even gap by the 2 wk mark). Very compliant and planted, especially after driving on them for a month or so, and no longer looks like an F-150 in the front. Great choice Tommy.

Cool. Look forward to your detailed DIY video I was planning on doing it myself as well but the fronts seemed really involved especially part that involved adding the adjustable sleeve. Will wait to see what you post in your video.

Thanks.

This leads people to think that the KW and BMW kits are the same and they are clearly not.

What is the difference between M Performance and KW HAS V2? Could be spring rates only because the parts are identical.

The indeed have different spring rates. Further, the MP-HAS have variable rates on the front springs.

I'm not an expert on KW's products, so you may be right that it is a helper spring and not a tender spring. But I will say this -- if that is a helper spring, that is the fattest helper spring I've ever seen.

The tender springs I have in my JRZs are about 150lb or 175lb (I forget).

As CanAutM3 pointed out the small spring in the rear is a helper spring. It does nothing but keep the actual lowering spring in place when the suspension is unloaded. Here's a shot of the F80 on the ground with the helper fully compressed.

Tommy - Looking forward to seeing your MP HAS install on YouTube and your thoughts on the ride differences from stock. I hate the front tire gap. Not sure why BMW did this. Even my 2004 530i has even wheel gaps front to back.

Yeah, those JRZ's are tenders. Compare the wire size between the small and large spring on yours to the picture below your post. The MPHAS secondary soring isn't nearly as beefy as yours.

The front MP-HAS are variable rate springs, so it is not really possible to have a single number for their rate.
