It Worked!!!

Following up here:

I finally got around to getting to an inspection station to test out this method. My car is a 2018 F80 ZCP running stage II bootmod3 with VRSF catless downpipes and stock ZCP exhaust. I placed the defoulers exactly like the OP instructed, and flashed stock tune (no lock). I drove around for about 25 or so miles after and then hooked up to a local shop inspection station OBDII.

It worked. Everything was shown as "ready/pass".

Got my sticker and I'm good for a year without putting stock downpipes back on.

Thanks to OP for this thread. Saved me a lot of aggravation. I'll be putting these on every year now.

How are you getting to the first downstream picture? I CANNOT get a tool in there to turn that nut... and how tight does the defouler and sensor have to be when installed? I got the 2nd in and that was a B××××. Cant get first one.

I have PLM downpipes btw...

In VA they allow for one failed monitor. With that said, could I just flash to stock, ensure readiness is set albeit without a CEL and pass?!

Smog and visual are non issues for me.

Car only has DP's with stock exhaust.

What does that mean, you just bought and flashed a custom tune just for emissions and you dont gotta touch any hardware?

IF so, how much was the custom tune?

I did some research on this forums some peoples in different states use bm3 stage 2 tune and couldn't pass it. The one I went to was self service using kiosk!

If you go to the station they will look under your car and this kiosk thing all you have to do is plug it up to your ecu.

I was sent a 'custom tune' to pass DEQ, but my cats said they were N/A aka NOT SUPPORTED. When i flash back to stock map it says NOT READY which is what I want to ready them.

any reason why it would show NOT SUPPORTED??

How are you getting the cat monitors to show as ready though? Did you use the spacers method in this thread or did you have a custom tune that forced them to be ready?

I did not use any spacer method nor ask my tuner to send me a special tune for the emission test. It just a regular 93 pump gas custom tune on the car

Kiosk just checks for readiness and CELs. How he passed I have no idea but if an inspector saw or heard his car I am sure it would have given them pause. His car is anything but discreet.

Have full eisenmann non-resonated exhaust and catless down pipes. Was told by my smog guy who was trying to pass it that the status of the cats on my car show 'Incomplete' as opposed to 'N/A' .. He asked if my car was tuned but I really don't know I just got it and was told it was flashed back to stock.. Anyway to check if car is on stock tune or flash tune??? I don't have any programs like BM3 or VRFlash which is the tune the seller mentioned.

If I use the defouler method would it work with my set up?? Any help would be appreciated.

I thought the car was suppose to say Incomplete? And when you do the drive cycle it then says OK. My car showed N/A which means 'Not Supported', I flashed back to stock and it shows INC.

No idea honestly, the guy told me he couldn't do it because it showed INC. He said normally it shows N/A.

I hope to get the smog done this week at a place another member recommended. Guy said he could do it, so we'll see.

Worse case scenario back to stock I go. Will report back.

Glad it worked man!! Trust me I was in the same boat and I couldn’t find ANYTHING on here showing how to pass with catless dp besides using an o2 sim which is like 120 and you have 2 downstream o2 sensors so 240 bucks just to pass emissions? F*ck that lol

Yeah it’s not easy, you have to just use the oxygen sensor removal tool, it makes it 1000000x easier to take them off. You also need to unclip the o2 sensors completely so they are free; that way you can screw them into the defouler once you install that into the downpipes. If it’s plugged in still it will get twisted and won’t work. So unclip it completely first then use the o2 removal tool to unscrew the downstream o2 sensors

I wonder if this would work on an n54? Also what if you extended the 02's and relocated them?
