Thing is, DCT really is FUN as opposed to what most people say you can have a blast driving paddle shifters, it's not just about 0-60 times, keeping both hands on the steering wheel at all times is also very very convenient. I also think it makes a great combo with the rev counter on the HUD (eyes always on the road, both hands always on the steering wheel). on the other hand driving a manual is much more rewarding and I would love to learn how to heel-toe. Anyways, I'm getting a manual and I don't think I will regret it

And that the DTM guys commented on that the tires were a bit soft in the tire wall is one further indication that the M3/M4 will stick to proper tires. Much can be said about RFTs but soft in the tire wall is not one of them. It is however a trait of the regular Michelin PSSs.

Great to see the interior of the M3/M4 add a touch of luxury and distinction with the full leather. Does anyone know (Jason?) whether you can get full alcantara on the headliner and A/B/C pillars? From the photos it appears its the usual pantyhose-like anthracite fabric, hoping you can get the lavish feel just like in the well appointed M5/M6 cabin.

I am stoked. THIS is the car I've been waiting for. I should be ready to buy just as the LCI drops. Just bought a B8.5 S4, so this will be the next car (unless of course they build a Pajun that's incredible). So many excellent options coming up.
FINALLY a proper interior. My S4 cabin crushes my LCI 335i I had before. Hoping the F30 M3 is a step up from the S4.

I don't think this is correct. I went into the Audi Exclusive Center in Munich and the people there said no to Exclusive full leather on either RS6 or RS7.

Not sure I understand your comment. Which do you think is better a RFT or non RFT? Last edited by bparker007; 12-13-2013 at 12:57 PM.. Reason: added member solstice as the one to question. |

Regular tires are IMO way better than RFTs, no comparison. If it was RFTs the complaints would have been more and different. |

question:
How are the owners of the current engines, N54, N55,etc. with high precision/direct injection doing for clean intake valves? any issues with that over time? Thoughts on that aspect of maintenance for the S55?

Too bad neither of these cars nor their engines will actually be built in Garching...

Not an issue from my perspective. What's important is the design not which plant makes it. Further I believe more automated manufacturing facilities churn out better quality product.

Can you expand on the "issue" with s52 and m54 engines? Again balance is almost for sure not going to be the problem when raising redlines on an I6.

Not saying the s55 will deal with these issues, but I just personally liked the "oversquare" idea better. IMO the internals (rods, pistons) will be bullet proof in the s55 and will NOT be a weak point on this car. |
