M3/M4 CS - Are CCB worth it longer term?
Hi all,
Looking for some opinions on the option of adding CCB to a potential M3 CS purchase (multiple vehicles in stock in AU). I'm fully aware of the differences/benefits of track and street use, but i'm more so wondering about longer term cost for street use. If I take this car it'll be in the garage for 4-5 years, outside warranty and service plan. What costs might i expect in 60,000KM? Thanks! JS

Even for street use though, there’s no business case for the CCB from pure cost stand point. If one opts for the CCB, it should not be for financials, it should be for the other attributes that the CCB offer.

I did the bmw ccb retro spare part on mine
Was only thing I regretted not adding to my build, but with our lct and stamps compounding on base price, ended up saving me around 8 grand, and I still have my new steels, weird outcome Still have cars with first gen ceramics and have never once needed to change discs. Pads haven't really cost anymore than the equivalent steels Ceramics are a deal breaker for me now, I won't order a car without them, as a hobbiest detailer the zero brake dust and easy wash process is all I really want them for - not having to use harsh smelling wheel cleaners or iron removers is great Doesn't hurt that for the f8x app they're a really good looking setup, they look a lot better than the steels which share the calipers with the M lite cars Last edited by domino_z; 01-25-2019 at 09:39 AM.. |

I went with the CCB for four reasons.
1. Lack of brake dust (hate cleaning wheels) 2. Blue calipers are embarrassingly small 2a. Especially on the CS with the wide open wheels 3. It’s a CS in LRG and I wanted the ultimate hero combo While I do a lot of club drive days, typically first thing in the morning, I’ll never track the car. Perhaps silly reasons, but it seems like the right direction to take. I’ve also just read a good thread on the Steel replacement option for track use. Good to know that if for any reason my plans change, I can switch them out. |

Has BMW made changes/updated their CCB since the introduction of the F8x? Considering the CCB option on a CS, but don't want to be worried about the damage folks previously experienced to the inside of their wheels due to stones getting caught.

It still happens, you really won’t care. It’s not noticeable unless your down there on your knees looking into the barrel.

So even with the dark 763M, you don't see it? Is this your first experience with CCB? Would you do it again?
