Electrical power supply limited

So I started car (2016 M3) up today and this popped up. Has anyone gotten this before or know what is going on ?

It is what it says: low battery charge. Get a Li-ion trickle charger if you are not driving your car enough, or take car to dealer.

Yes. I had the "need to replace battery" signal for 2 weeks. My car sat in the dealer lot for 3 months without being started. I have a 2017 and they replaced the Lithium ion battery under warranty. I don't drive it much I just bought the bmw charger with the switch so you can charge both types of batteries. $99. Seemed reasonable although the one I bought for my Mazda rx8 was $39.

The RX8 does not use a Li-Ion battery, that's why the charger price difference.
